Eurovision 2014. Denmark

59th Eurovision Song Contest took place in Denmark from May 6 to 10. The Danish national broadcaster DR announced on September 2, 2013 that the song competition was held in Copenhagen, at the B&W halls, which are located in Refhaløen Square on the island of Amager. The slogan for this year's competition – “Join Us” – was approved by the EBU and the reference group. The symbol of Eurovision 2014 was a blue diamond.

IN 2014 the winner of the competition, unexpectedly for everyone - and for himself too - was a 25-year-old singer from Austrian Thomas Neuwirth, who performed under the stage name. In she with a song "Rise Like a Phoenix" scored 290 points, 52 points ahead of her closest competitor - the duet “The Common Linnets” from the Netherlands, who scored 238 points.

This is Austria's second victory in Eurovision(the first happened in distant times). overall it turned out to be the strongest in recent years. The last 10 years to Eurovision There was a lot of criticism, and some countries seemed to deliberately send frankly second-rate artists to the competition. IN 2014 competition demonstrated a desire to part with the reputation of a collection of Eurotrash, earned in the early 2000s - and this time, real deeds became visible behind these ambitions.

Thomas Neuwirth is an Austrian singer of non-traditional sexual orientation who, with the help of his stage image of a bearded woman, fights for tolerance and equality of all people, regardless of their appearance.

This image is three years old; Neuwirth in the form Wurst- a bearded and stylishly dressed vamp - could have gone to another competition, but at the national selection he took second place.

The musician himself separates himself and the singer he created - this is, however, what all artists do who work with characters of a different (and also their own) gender. You can remember, for example, Verka Serduchka, whom he invented with and who, in this image, recorded albums, acted in films, represented his country at Eurovision 2007 and even took second place there.

Europe's choice can hardly be considered demonstrative - objectively, despite the beard, she was the most feminine of the artists participating in this year's competition, and had perhaps the most outstanding vocal abilities in comparison with other competitors.

Eurovision 2015. Austria

The 60th anniversary song competition was held in Austria, which became the winning country, held in Copenhagen (Denmark). Austria hosted the competition for the second time. Only 48 years later the country was able to repeat the result, where Udo Jurgens became the winner.

The results of the competition completely coincided with the forecast of the bookmakers, who absolutely accurately predicted the first three winners: Sweden, Russia, Italy. Representative of Sweden Mons Zelmerlöw and representative of Russia Polina Gagarina were very close on points, replacing each other in first place. Even the winner of the competition himself subsequently admitted that at some point he had come to terms with second place and was confident in Russia’s victory. During the voting, the Swede still ended up in first place. He scored 365 points, leaving Russia in second place.

(Mons Petter Albert Selmerlöw) was born on June 13, 1986 in a family of doctors. Since childhood, I was fond of creativity, loved to listen and... He learned to play the piano, attended an African dance club, and later began to independently learn to play the guitar.

He participated in the show “Idol 2005”, where he took fifth place. In the same year, with the singer Anna Book, he took part in the show “Let’s Dance” and won.

The singer starred in the Swedish versions of the films Grease (2006) and Footloose (2007).

In 2007 he also participated in the Melodifestivalen, taking third place in the final with the song “Cara mia”.

2015 was a very successful year for Monsa Selmerlöva. In Melodifestivalen he took first place, thereby gaining the right to represent Sweden at Eurovision Song Contest. The Swedish performer showed an enchantingly spectacular laser show at the competition, made in the form of a projection from which Mons sang the song very emotionally "Heroes". His performance was unique and unlike others, and therefore deserved not only a warm welcome, but also a victory for the performer.

21.05.2015

is rightfully considered the main musical event of the year in Europe. This competition is very emotional and exciting not only for the participants, but also for spectators from different countries who gather near the screens and wholeheartedly root for their performer. In addition, Eurovision is a spectacular show, preparations for which begin almost the next day after the next winner has been named and the host country of the next competition has been determined.

But no matter how much millions of people hope that Eurovision will come to their homes next year, most of them will experience a slight disappointment. There can only be one winner. And it is for him that even the losers rejoice. After all, this means that another talent was discovered and received a ticket to the musical Olympus.

History of Eurovision

The idea of creating a competition appeared in the middle of the last century. It was then that representatives European Broadcasting Union thought about taking the first step towards the cultural unification of the different countries that are part of it. The idea of organizing an international song competition was first proposed by Marcel Besançon. At that time he was the head of Swiss television. This happened in the fiftieth year. But only five years later the proposal was approved. On EBU General Assembly, which took place in Rome, it was decided not only to begin implementing the idea of a song competition in which representatives from all European countries could take part, but it was also agreed to use the festival that took place in Italy as a model Sanremo. It was officially stated that the goal Eurovision is the search for talents and their promotion on the international stage. However, in fact, the competition was intended to increase the popularity of TV, which in those years had not yet reached modern proportions.

First Eurovision passed in May fifty-six. Then Switzerland hosted the participants. The concert took place in Lugano. It was attended by representatives from only seven countries. Each musician performed two numbers. This was an unprecedented event for Eurovision. Subsequently, the number of participants increased, and each of them had only one chance to show themselves. The first winner of the most popular singing competition was a Swiss woman Liz Assia.

Since the number of people wishing to show themselves at the popular music competition is steadily growing, in the fourth year of the new millennium it was decided to divide the competition into two parts. From that moment on, a semi-final is initially held, in which everyone can perform, and only then the final starts, which not everyone gets to. And after another four years, there were two semi-finals. This is despite the fact that countries are sometimes denied the right to nominate a candidate, and in some cases, states that usually send performers to Eurovision refrain from participating for one reason or another.

Over the many years of Eurovision's existence, the winners have most often been representatives of Ireland. As many as seven times, musicians from this country found themselves on the podium. France, Great Britain, Sweden and Luxenburg won the competition five times each. It is worth remembering that the famous ABBA group and world famous artist Celine Dion They began their careers precisely by winning this competition.
