How to properly install a program on a computer from a disk? Brief instructions. How to install Windows directly from a hard drive using different methods? How to install the disc

The brake system of a bicycle is one of the most important components; the safety of the cyclist depends on it. It is important to choose the best option from all existing ones, as well as understand the installation nuances. Therefore, before you start installing disc brakes, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the operating principle of this device, its subtypes and other nuances.

We recommend reading:

The brake system of a bicycle consists of the following components:

  • Brake disc (rotor);
  • Brake handles;
  • Caliper (a unit that consists of two brake pads in contact with the rotor and reservoirs with brake fluid, which is under pressure);
  • Adapter (attaches the caliper to the bicycle frame).

Among the subspecies presented on the market are:

Installing disc brakes on a bicycle consists of the following tasks:

  1. Attaching the brake levers to the steering wheel and adjusting their position. This is done using a hexagon.
  2. Installation of the caliper (machine) in special disk mounts located on the bicycle frame.
  3. Mounting the brake discs (rotor) on the hub using special bolts (usually 6 pieces). Bolts should be included in the kit.
  4. Fastening the cable into the brake lever, which must then be placed in the jacket. The jacket is guided to the caliper using the guides on the frame.
  5. Adjusting disc brakes.

It is important to note that the caliper must be installed in such a way that the brake pads do not touch the rotor. Do not overtighten the hexagons when installing it; they should “float” slightly. To get the caliper into the right place, you should clamp the brake disc with the pads and try to rotate the wheel back and forth. The brake pads should extend equally, this can be checked by pressing the brake lever. The bolts need to be tightened alternately. After pressing the caliper, it is necessary to sharply press the handle 15-30 times in order to bring the pads to the brake disc (to the working distance). It is also important to check if there is any friction between the disc and any of the pads. To do this, you need to spin the wheel with the handle released. If friction is present, it is necessary to loosen the caliper bolts and move it slightly towards the rubbing pad. If there is such a need, you can tighten the bolts again and repeat the above steps.

Hello dear readers.

Probably every computer user knows what CD/DVD drives are. Especially one that dates back to the era of soft media. Today, on such portable memory you can usually see installation files of the operating system, movies or games. Previously, this was almost the only way to transfer large volumes of information at that time. And today, some companies offer applications on these types of devices. In this article I will tell you how to install the program on a computer from a disk?

Already today " World Wide Web"developed as never before. This allows you to receive almost all software in a matter of minutes. But sometimes some users still encounter a situation when they need to install an application from a disk on their computer or laptop. To do this, we make several movements:

No drive( )

Sometimes there is a problem when devices simply do not have the appropriate connector. What to do if there is no disk drive? Then you need to insert the metal-coated plastic into another computer, copy all the files from it to a flash drive, and then use a portable USB memory for installation.

Specialized programs( )

Some users often have problems with the location of special software in the system that relates to car diagnostics - OBD 2, ProScan, ELM327 and many others.

It, like everything else, comes on a disk along with elements that are connected directly to the car. How to properly place it in the system is indicated in the attached instructions.

If something is not clear to you, you can watch a video on this topic:

Sometimes problems arise with the Victoria software, which is used to check the hard drive for problem areas. This usually happens due to incompatibility. Before you start, just find the right version.

One of the frequent wishes of computer and laptop owners is to create a D drive in Windows 10, 8 or Windows 7 in order to subsequently store data on it (photos, movies, music, etc.) and this is not without meaning, especially in the case if you reinstall the system from time to time by formatting the disk (in this situation it will be possible to format only the system partition).

Everything that was described above can be done not only using the Windows Disk Management GUI, but also on the command line using the following steps:

At this point, you can close the command prompt, and the new drive D (or under another letter) will appear in Windows Explorer.

Using the free Aomei Partition Assistant Standard program

There are many free programs that allow you to split your hard drive into two (or more). As an example, I will show how to create disk D in the free program in Russian Aomei Partition Assistant Standard.

You can download the free Aomei Partition Assistant Standard from the official website http://www.disk-partition.com/free-partition-manager.html (the site is in English, but the program has a Russian interface language, which is selected during installation).

I conclude with this. The instructions are intended for cases where the system is already installed. But you can create a separate disk partition during the installation of Windows on your computer, see.

Until recently, disks were a very popular means of transferring data. Now flash drives have appeared, but many still have a stack of disks with various information lying around somewhere.

How to download a disc to your computer

  • Step 1: You need an optical CD or DVD-ROM. It must be connected to the computer. Laptops often have built-in DVD-ROMs. However, netbooks do not have this device. How to download a disc to a laptop or netbook? An external DVD-ROM that connects via USB can come to the rescue. After connecting the external device, make sure that your computer detects and identifies it. A message about this may appear in the lower right corner of your desktop. Otherwise, you can go to "My Computer". All devices connected to the computer are displayed here.
  • Step 2. Insert the disc into the drive. The disk should start automatically. The data on the disk can be seen using the Explorer program or another file manager (for example, Total Commander). Any optical drive is identified in Explorer as a separate device and is displayed as a logical partition with the corresponding letter. DVD-ROM is no exception. Open the DVD-ROM and look at the contents of the disc.
  • Step 3. Select the necessary files and copy them. Paste the copied files into the required location.

Cloud storage

With the development of Internet technologies, many people prefer to store data on cloud (online) storage. This allows you not to fool your head with flash drives and disks. The most popular cloud storage services today are Google Drive and Yandex Drive.

Downloading information from such online disks is not difficult. First, you will need an account on the appropriate service. If you have an email on this resource, you can also use it to log into cloud storage. You will be taken to your account, which will display all the files available to you. This includes both files you have uploaded and files of other people to which you have access. Further, the storage algorithm differs for each Internet platform:

For Google Drive:

  • select the necessary files;
  • open the “advanced” menu and select “Download”;
  • in the window that appears, select the file format;
  • Click the "Download" button.

For Yandex Disk:

  • open the page with the required file;
  • Click on the "download" button (to the right of the file).

Yandex Disk has a download limit. It is 50 GB. That is, a larger file cannot be downloaded.

Other cloud storage systems operate in the same way. Go to the site (some services do not require registration, others can only be accessed through your own account), look for the file you need and click the “download” button. There are options here: the file can start downloading immediately, sometimes you need to specify the download path, sometimes - the file extension.

How to install a hard drive yourself?

Before you decide to purchase and install a hard drive, new or additional, I advise you to read the Computer76 blog articles “” and “Is your hard drive faulty? " In the first, you will learn how to choose a hard drive, in the second, how to determine whether your hard drive has really died completely or whether it can be revived. The last article will also be useful if you have suspicions that the on-call master is deceiving you (or not deceiving you on occasion), forcing you to buy an expensive device with all the ensuing expenses.

So, the question of the need to buy a hard drive is no longer raised, let's start the installation.

To install a hard drive yourself to replace one that has become unusable, you will have to think through a plan for installing the operating system. Before purchasing, you will have to decide on the interface of the connected drive. More on this below.

For laptops, the installation scheme is simplified, although it all depends on the model. Often the HDD replacement scheme is very simple, since manufacturers do not hide the disk far away; it can be removed and installed in a few movements using a small Phillips screwdriver. Installing an additional HDD in a laptop is rarely possible (except perhaps in place of a broken disk drive), so we have little choice.

With desktop computers, those on tables or under them, in principle, everything is not difficult. And we will consider exactly the option when, I repeat, you have finally made the decision to purchase and install the disk. For software diagnostics of existing equipment and the possibility of installing additional equipment, there are free utilities that you can confidently use before mechanical work on your computer and laptop. I will focus on exactly what awaits us inside.

REFERENCE

Desktop users often have questions about how to orientation hard disk affects work and life expectancy. I was able to collect information in the form of direct answers to a direct question to various hard drive manufacturers. You can read them in the blog article ““.

Let's divide the process of installing a hard drive yourself into several stages:

  • Removing the cover and visual inspection.
  • Checking the necessary connectors and cables (purchase if necessary)
  • Setting priority for BIOS (if you install an additional hard drive)
  • Installing (replacing) a disk

To install the hard drive yourself, we need:

  • Connection cables to the motherboard (more on this below)
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • fastening screws (where you buy the hard drive, feel free to ask; 4 pieces are enough).

How to install a hard drive yourself. Removing the cover and visual inspection.

Before purchasing, open the side cover of your computer. You need to remove the one that blocks access to the insides of the computer. The second side cover often simply serves as a symmetrical counterpart. The ventilation hole on the lid will serve as your guide. Where the grill is, we’ll remove that cover.

Unfasten the clips. Usually there are two.

Unscrew the fastening bolts. Move the cover slightly towards the locks and fastening screws and move it to the side.

As you can see in the photo, two disks are already installed in the system (in the dust). I'll increase them:

But upon closer inspection, you can see which one was installed upon purchase and which one appeared later. It (the one below) was clearly installed as an additional one. And it's not a matter of order. Take a closer look at the interface:

sorry, it came out blurry

Take a closer look at the photo as much as possible. The top of the drives is connected to the motherboard with a narrow red cord, the bottom is connected to a wide one. gray with blue connector.

Let's start from this point in more detail. What do we need to know about this.

How to install a hard drive yourself. Checking the necessary connectors and cables.

How are hard drives connected in general?

Hard drives are connected by different cables and wires to:

Motherboard

Power supply

Motherboards Available for two types of hard drives. That is, these cards have two types of connectors. These are already familiar to you IDE(old) and SATA(new). The IDE connector began to disappear from both motherboards and hard drives. But it may happen...

Let's look at a specific example. Namely on our board. I clicked its name:

I found a beautiful photo of the board online. Let's look at him.

Do you recognize? Yes, it is on the computer. You have your own, but the meaning will be clear. To connect drives on the board we are interested in:

Red connectors (small), for SATA:

Wide with two rows of connectors for IDE(there may be two connectors on older boards).

The color and location may not match what is on your board, but there are not so many of them on the motherboard... You are unlikely to go wrong.

Accordingly, there are different cables for connecting different drives. In the first photos, I repeat, they are clearly visible. And here's what they look like in the store:

For SATA drives

For IDE drives.

Before purchasing, decide which cable you may need. They cost pennies, but inserting them correctly is not difficult.

Once you have decided on the cables, you need to study how the drives are connected to the power supply.

Everything is already ready here and you hardly need to buy anything. There are many connectors coming from the computer power supply, but we are interested in:

For SATA and for IDE

Attention! If you are going to add a new hard drive rather than change it, make sure that:

The cable from the power supply to the new hard drive is long enough

There is a free power connector from the unit to the future hard drive

The second problem, by the way, can be easily solved using adapters like:

Attention! If you are installing an additional hard drive, you will have to set the priority jacks (shorts) on the additional drive. Otherwise, the system may not understand which disk it should boot from and will generate an error. So that everything is fine...

How to install a hard drive yourself. Setting priority for BIOS

This is what you need to do, and it’s very simple. If you lay the hard drive flat on a table, you will see a picture that explains how to short...

...so that the disks in the computer do not interfere with each other. See:

We are interested in the diagram for installing a jumper at the end of the hard drive, where its connectors are located. The jumper is shown as solid black. I'll enlarge the picture:

There are 3 connection options shown. In this case, we are interested in only two:

Slave– “submits”, as additional (jumper second from bottom)

Master– “main”, main, with the system (you don’t have to install a jumper at all)

Since we are installing a hard drive in addition to the existing one, we select the option Slave and put a short as in the picture. This is what happened:

That's it. Just take your time and don't try too hard. Insert the drive into the 3.5″ connector so that the mounting slots match the screw slots on the hard drive itself:

Tighten the screws tighter. Now you can make an effort:

And alternately insert the connectors for the motherboard and the power supply, as in the photo:

The hard drive, as you remember, has an IDE interface. So there are connectors for it. You may have your own (for SATA).

So it's easy to install the hard drive yourself. Good luck
