Dmitry Malikov - Soviet and Russian singer and composer, producer, TV presenter, People's Artist of the Russian Federation (2010). Known for songs of his own composition, mostly romantic content: “My distant star”, “You will never be mine” and “You are alone, you are like that”. He successfully combines classical and pop music in his musical career, is a talented and successful pianist.

Childhood and family

Dmitry Malikov was born on January 29, 1970 in a creative Moscow family. His father is the Honored Artist of Russia Yuri Fedorovich Malikov, the creator and leader of the once popular VIA "Gems". Mom, Lyudmila Mikhailovna Vyunkova, was a ballet soloist, and then became her son's concert director. Dmitry also has a sister, younger by 7 years, singer Inna Malikova.

As a child, Dima was very athletic and devoted a lot of time to street games - for example, football. And when the parents invited the music teacher to study with Dima at home, the young athlete did not like it so much that he constantly ran away from lessons. The family lived on the first floor, so Dmitry jumped out the window as soon as he heard the doorbell ring. The teacher constantly scolded and reprimanded the grandmother, who spent most of her time raising Malikov, that her grandson would never become a musician.

Despite the first reluctance to study, Dima quickly achieved great heights in the musical field, masterfully mastered the piano. At the age of 14, the future popular artist composed his first song, which he called "Iron Soul". Music in Malikov's life soon took first place, and thoughts about a sports career faded into the background.

The beginning of a musical career

In 1985, Dmitry Malikov graduated from the 8th grade of the school and entered the music school at the Moscow Conservatory. At the same time, he began to take his first steps on the Russian stage - he played keyboards in his father's band VIA "Gems" and composed music. The songs of the young composer Dmitry Malikov were even included in the group's repertoire, and Larisa Dolina sang his composition "House on a Cloud".

His television debut happened in 1986: Dmitry Malikov performed on the program "Wider Circle" with the song "I am painting a picture" to the verses of Lilia Vinogradova. Later, in 1987, in the program " Yuri Nikolaev's Morning Mail" Malikov sang the song "Terem-Teremok".

His first compositions on the big stage were "Moon Dream" to the words of Lilia Vinogradova and "You will never be mine" to the words of David Samoilov. Then the first major success came to him - the composition "Moonlight Dream" became the record holder of the "Soundtrack" hit parade, in which it lasted for a year. The listeners were fascinated by the romantic image of Malikov and his touching songs, in the same year he was recognized as the "Discovery of the Year".

A year later, at the "New Year's Light-89", the young musician sang his new composition called "Until Tomorrow". She is still considered his hallmark, and Dmitry traditionally includes her in his concert performances. In this and the following years, Malikov was recognized as the "Singer of the Year". His next songs - "Student", "Sing to me", "Dear side", "Everything will return", "Poor heart" - also topped the charts.

Dmitry Malikov - “You are alone, you are like that”

After graduating from a music school, in 1989, Dmitry Malikov became a student of the piano department of the Moscow State Conservatory. Tchaikovsky, where he began to study with Professor Valery Kastelsky.

In the summer, the graduate was invited as a guest to the international music festival in Sopot, Poland. A year later, the artist already began performing solo concerts - the first large-scale performance took place in November 1990 at the Olimpiysky KSS in Moscow, where more than one thousand listeners came.

The heyday of a musical career

In 1993, Dmitry Malikov demonstrated his acting talent by playing in Alexander Proshkin's film See Paris and Die. In the same year, in Germany, he released the single Don "t Be Afraid ("Do not be afraid"), which he performed with the singer Oscar in a duet called Baroque. The following year, Malikov received a red diploma from the Moscow Conservatory.

In parallel with his pop career, Dmitry Malikov always found an opportunity to devote time to classical music and playing the piano. In 1995, the artist performed on the piano a concerto by Franz Liszt with an orchestra conducted by conductor Konstantin Kremets in the television program Paradise Cocktail. Two years later, Dmitry Malikov gave a concert in Stuttgart.

A little later, an album of instrumental music called "Fear of Flight" was released, favorably received by his fans. In 1999, Dmitry Malikov became an Honored Artist of Russia, and a year later he received the Ovation Award in the nomination For Intellectual Contribution to the Development of Youth Music.

His second instrumental album was released in 2001 under the title "Game". The disc includes piano arrangements of various popular songs of the national stage. By the way, Dmitry Malikov's instrumental compositions are constantly heard in television programs, and also become soundtracks for documentaries and feature films. In 2004, a reissue of the popular album "Fear of Flight" was released.

In 2007, the artist presented his author's project PIANOMANIA to the audience. The TV version of the concert within the framework of the project was shown on the air of the NTV channel, and after that the album of the same name was released, which sold over 100 thousand copies. The premiere concerts of the show were held twice with a full house on the stage of the Moscow Opera Theater. Dmitry Chernyakov became the director-producer.

Dmitry Malikov - "From a clean slate"

In 2010, Dmitry Malikov again gave a solo piano concerto, this time on the stage of the Moscow International House of Music (MMDM), and at the end of the year he presented the Symphonic Mania show in France, which was attended by such eminent groups as the Cirque du Soleil, the orchestra and the choir of the "New Opera" and the Imperial Russian Ballet G. Taranda. In the same year, the singer received the title of People's Artist of the Russian Federation.

In 2012, Malikov created a social and educational project to help young pianists throughout Russia, which he called Music Lessons. In 2013, the singer released his next album called "25+", timed to coincide with the anniversary date in his work. And in 2015, the musician pleased his fans with the 15th disc "Cafe Safari", on which he recorded his new instrumental music.

A separate aspect in the work of Dmitry Malikov is video clips, many of which have become classics of domestic clip-making art. In total, the singer has about 20 video clips in the piggy bank, and most of them were shot by well-known directors - Oleg Gusev, Fyodor Bondarchuk, Yuri Grymov, Irina Mironova. Videos for the songs “Drink to the Bottom” and “My Distant Star” became laureates of the Russian festival of video clips “Generation”. In total, by 2018, Dmitry Malikov recorded 14 albums, as well as three collections of songs and two singles.

Personal life of Dmitry Malikov

The first wife of Malikov, however, a civil one, was the once popular singer Natalya Vetlitskaya. Their relationship lasted 6 years, after which Vetlitskaya left Dmitry depressed from parting.

Malikov and Vetlitskaya - "What a strange fate"

Official Instagram Dmitry Malikov Jr.

You probably noticed that recently I began to post less posts and stories on Instagram? Today I still decided to write “why”, and talk with you about issues that interest me. To begin with, why do you subscribe to anyone at all? Either these are your friends and acquaintances, but then everything would be limited to 150 subscriptions and subscribers, or probably because you are interested in watching what happens in the lives of famous or talented people. But are they interested in you? By no means will I give examples, but when I stumble upon a question at the end of a post by some famous person or company, “What do you think?” or “What is your opinion?” Do you really think that this is really interesting to them? All this was done only to ensure that there were as many comments as possible under the posts ... "Like a lot of real living people." But unfortunately you are only used to sell ads at a higher price ... Yes, in fact, if I asked you to really answer the question, was there ever a case when you came across a long post of some popular person with YouTube in an embrace , and not flipped through it as soon as possible? I think everyone will answer that this is just what happens ... Perhaps you will say that it is interesting for you to watch public people, their lives, but in fact, believe me, and I think deep down you know that what is real important to them, will never be put on display ... What remains if we are talking about accounts of "personalities", and not the various nature of the public? Photos next to acquaintances and friends, and I have absolutely nothing against this. But I don’t think that this can keep the interest of the audience for a long time. And at the same time, it seems to me that you need to keep Instagram. After all, this is a unique opportunity to press one button at the moment, and thousands of people can see “something”! But what is "it"? Tell me your opinion 🤔 What would you really like to hear about, what photos to watch? Or does it make no sense for me to start something, because soon Instagram will become just a machine of wound up subscribers?😅Thank you all in advance😎🙌🏼

The Malikov dynasty is famous for more than one generation of musical talents. People's Artist Yuri Fedorovich Malikov raised two talented and musical children Dmitry and Inna. The granddaughter of the creator of "Gems" Stefania followed in her father's footsteps and became a singer. Dmitry and his successor have performed on the same stage more than once. But Inna's son chose a completely different profession. He decided to excel in culinary arts.

Dmitry Malikov Jr. is only 17 years old. However, he will already give odds to many metropolitan chefs. The young man feeds the whole family - he often arranges homemade dinners and treats his relatives to gourmet dishes. In April, the young man launches his own project. He organized the culinary show "Everything to the table." The event will be held in one of the largest metropolitan shopping centers.

Stesha Malikova will come to help her cousin. Perhaps while Dima is cooking, his sister will entertain the guests of the master class with a good song. Most likely, his close friends will come to support the young chef, including the son of the famous restaurateur Arkady Novikov Nikita, the son of Valeria Arseniy Shulgin, and the son of Christina Orbakaite Denis Baysarov. In addition, the guys have friendly relations with Stephanie.

Recall that last month, the charming daughter of Dmitry Malikov celebrated her 16th birthday. However, she did not invite the guys to her celebration, but arranged a bachelorette party. Dad helped Stesha with the organization of the holiday. It was his gift to the heiress.

The composer and his wife Elena Malikova touchingly congratulated their beloved daughter on her birthday by posting photos of little Stephanie in their microblogs. The girl heard a lot of kind words addressed to her from friends, as well as subscribers on Instagram. "Thank you all for your congratulations! - Stefania Malikova thanked her fans. - I love you very much and appreciate every written word. I wish you that everything that you wish for me will return doubly, and maybe even triple to you all.

By the way, the young lady already often receives special signs of attention from boyfriends. So, recently she posted on the Web a photo of a bouquet that weighs more than forty kilograms. It was decorated with the letter S lined with white buds against a background of pink ones - the first letter in the name of the singer's daughter. “1111 roses... Love and appreciate each other!” Stefania signed the post.

“To go to the stage, you need a special talent. I just don't see the point in doing it. I have my way"

Dima Malikov Jr., contrary to family tradition, does not aspire to the stage. Our today's hero lives in two cities: he masters the intricacies of the restaurant business in France, hosts his own culinary show, tries to spend as much time as possible with family and friends, and sees the day in which he will become the first professional media chef in Russia. About why Dima chose such an unusual path, life priorities and attitude to work - in our interview.

Dima, for starters, please tell us about your life. You are now only 17 years old. You have already completed your secondary education, where are you studying now?

I graduated from the Lomonosov school almost perfectly, without triples. The last six months of the 11th grade I spent on individual training. It became impossible to continue the usual form, because I needed to study French 8-9 times a week with two teachers in order to enter the university where I study now. I was preparing for the Unified State Examination in parallel, although not at full strength, all the results for 85 points. And now for 2 months I have been living in France, in Lyon, and studying at the best culinary university in Europe, Institut Paul Bocuse. My faculty is called Culinary Arts and Restaurant Business Organization.

But why did you choose this particular area? Given that, in principle, any education is available to you, this is a rather unusual choice. And, to put it bluntly, you would already have a ready place on the stage.

Will explain. For three generations, everyone in our family has been involved in music. Two years ago, I seriously thought about it, there were two options: the first was to go in the direction of music. I realized that I was late with the piano, I play, but far from being at the same level as, for example, my friend Arseniy Shulgin, who gathers halls with his music. As for the stage… there is a voice show, when a participant comes out with his number, the audience either gets up from their seats and applauds, or they say: “Sorry, but…”. The last alignment in life does not suit me in any way, but any talent is still given by nature. It is impossible to suddenly sing at a high level, even with great effort. The second possible way is to graduate from a worthy faculty of economics in Russia, and after that - choose the direction of business in which I want to be realized.

But it so happened that a year and a half ago I was left alone at home, completely alone. To have the strength to do homework, I had to cook something myself. And so began this great story! At first I started cooking at home, looking for some interesting recipes. After I ended up in Italy, I tried to understand how the culinary business is organized abroad, I trained in various restaurants. And one day, a very respected person in this business, the heir to a large restaurant dynasty, having explained the intricacies of education in Italy, advised three options: New York, Sydney and, in fact, France, Lyon. The closest to Russia and the most popular is the Institut Paul Bocuse. And I firmly decided to enter there, I began to learn French, which I did not know at all before. To study, you need a B2 level, which is about 7 years of language learning, I had one option left - to dig into my studies in order to do all this in six months. In parallel, he continued to practice and cook. But in order to create something of your own, you need to navigate and learn from established masters, professionals. If you are a musician, you need good notes and the experience of composers, the artist looks at existing masterpieces, but where to look for someone who wants to comprehend the culinary art? We need at least good, competent recipes. In England, in America there is a separate direction - "media chief". For example, my idol, Jimmy Oliver! Or Gordon Rems! These are not just people who can cook well or are in the restaurant business - they have mastered the media format, which includes television shows, magazines, Internet blogs, iPhone applications - everything related to the media industry. Are there such figures in Russia? Yes, there are culinary programs, for example, Ivan Urgant and the Smak show. I respect him very much, but he is a leader, he does not have a professional education in the field of cooking. There is no person in our country who would devote his life to this direction, who would receive serious professional skills. I saw it as an empty window with an inscription "Dima Malikov, welcome!" (laughs)

Now all the children from the families of famous musicians, and not only musicians, for some reason, certainly strive to the stage. I do not understand the negativity and condemnation towards their work, but for some reason everyone treats me good-naturedly. I didn’t hear a single evil word from my address, everyone says: “Well done for not going into this show business”! I am glad that the direction I have chosen evokes a response and respect from people, because, unfortunately, it is no longer on the stage. I like that I am mastering something that is interesting to me, unusual for Russia, and at the same time I am maximally involved in the media process - filming, recording, communication, direct interaction with the viewer. I implement several directions at once.

Tell us about your studies in Lyon? Who will you be at the end? Chef? Restaurateur? Or?

Education at the institute is divided into two parts: classes, which include management, business, marketing, the history of gastronomy, a bunch of other subjects and practice, where we work in a team with the best chefs in Europe. Then there will be an internship: for four months I can live in any country in the world and practice in a restaurant there. This is an important and interesting experience for me. But I'll be honest: I have the opportunity to go further, to cover more areas in this business. I do not see the need to spend time only on work in a restaurant. But I plan to open several establishments in Moscow. Russia has its own restaurateurs, but the main difference is this: they are rather businessmen, managers. And I will have the right to enter the kitchen, to be aware of the internal process. I will know the matter thoroughly. Arkady Novikov correctly spoke about this: “A restaurateur is someone who has one, two, maximum, restaurants. From morning until closing, he personally monitors every little thing, meets guests, but I already have more than 50 establishments in Moscow, I am no longer a restaurateur, but a businessman.. And, again, the restaurateur does not work in the kitchen! After receiving my education, all facets of the culinary sphere will be available to me.

How did the family react to such a non-standard choice?

Good very good. Dima (Dmitry Malikov Sr., uncle of our hero, editor's note) and my grandfather share the opinion that in our time the business should be "in the hands." If you want to open a clinic, you need to at least graduate from a medical university, if you want a culinary business, you also need an appropriate professional education. This is important for your own satisfaction, so as not to buy a “pig in a poke”, but to build a business from scratch on your own, understand it and teach people who work with you. Everyone is very supportive and sees great potential in my choice.

Does your name help or hinder your progress in life?

Like I said, cooking saved everything! If I went into music, I would certainly be compared with my uncle and our dynasty. I love my family and am proud of them, but of course I want to contribute something of my own. And the path I have chosen provides such an opportunity. But I treat myself without illusions: yes, the surname helped me go through the initial stage of the formation of a public personality a little faster. But then you need to work to show that I am Malikov.

Based on your answers, it becomes clear that the opinion and support of your relatives are very important to you. What does the word "family" mean to you?

There are two concepts of the word family - the one in which you were born and the one that you build yourself after marriage.

Everyone knows our family well, we have absolutely unique grandparents who light up, travel all over the country, feel great. My grandfather still performs on stage and tours. I have a very close relationship with my sister Stephanie, we miss each other very much, because of the study regime, it is not possible to come to Moscow often. My mother is wonderful, we have complete trust and understanding with her. We all love and respect each other very much. This, perhaps, is the basis of the family - to be a single whole.

As for the future family that a man should create ... I already have my own vision on this matter. I want at least four children, three boys and one girl, so that they all follow me, so that we spend a lot of time together. I dream of a wonderful wife, I want her to take care of our family first of all. But in no case do I limit anyone, it's great when a woman has a desire to create something in her free time. Everything must be in balance.

In addition to family, friends play an important role in your life. Most of them are famous artists, singers and musicians. Can you name someone whose work is especially close to you?

Everyone on the stage knows each other. The wife of Stas Mikhailov is my godmother, we are family friends with Valeria and Iosif Prigogine. Oleg Gazmanov, Philip Kirkorov, Nikolai Baskov, Grigory Leps and many others - they are all our friends, I really respect them and what they do. I really like Polina Gagarina - her voice and work on stage are really beautiful. But I can’t say that I have albums of each of the artists downloaded on my phone. But there are certain songs that I love very much. For example, when we relax as friends in the summer and shoot cool videos, I can light it to “Natural Blonde”, if I find melancholy, I can listen to Stas Mikhailov or my uncle’s instrumental music. What causes interest and respect is what Black star is doing now. I treat everything with humor and love, I listen to different things. I am not talking about classical, jazz now - they are also on my playlist.

Tell us about your plans. How do you see yourself in the future near and far?

As I said, in order to sing perfectly, you need talent and diligence, so in the culinary business - you need to learn a lot, develop, watch. I know that when I return from the institute, I will be 20 years old. I will start working at full strength, developing the direction in Russia. I believe that I will live this life with dignity, that everything will work out. But for me, time is very important. With admiration I look at such stars as Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber - at the age of 16-17 they created a high-quality and sought-after product on a level with adults, and sometimes even better. At thirty years old, I really do not want to understand that I missed my moment, that I could have done more in my time. I already want to do something. I have my own channel on YouTube. I do my job from the heart, I try to present everything to the viewer in an interesting and understandable format. Now I want to go further. From the new year we are launching a new show of an absolutely unique format, which will be called Dancing chief. There will be 5 different sections. When Jimmy Oliver began his professional career, he launched the Naked Chef program. Not because he performed without clothes, but because his recipes were simple, open and understandable to everyone. I also have my own vision - I want to share it! I don’t want to be attached to one thing - either to the kitchen or to the show: I want to be a real professional chef and at the same time rejoice, dance, light up and communicate with the audience. We will sing, dance, have fun, give interesting recipes, talk about the benefits and vitamins, proper food, share the so-called useful skills. In general, very soon it will be very interesting, and most importantly: in a new way. As the legendary Steve Jobs said: “Don’t look at competitors, don’t say “We will do better”, say “We will do it our way!”. I think this is the right strategy. No one has done this before me, there is an opportunity to “conjure”, to be a little bit of a magician.

You are only 17 years old. Not every adult has such a rich life and plans. Do you have enough time for everything? Does everything suit you in such a turbo mode?

Only one thing does not suit me: I would like to spend a little more time in Moscow, to work a little more here. I try to find time for family and friends, but it is not easy to realize professional plans when you have one or two days.

And our traditional advice to the reader. What will Dima Malikov recommend to people in order to be successful?

First: in terms of work and life, you need to find something that you will love and learn with interest, find “your own”, something that will be in your hands.

The second point: always, whatever you do, keep the love of art, show interest in the works of great people. When I arrived in France, I started not with cooking, but with getting to know the culture, with trips to museums and galleries. You need to read more, watch, listen to the right music. Even if it is not at all connected with your profession, all this develops, forms a special vision, and helps in difficult situations.

And third: always keep a positive attitude, no matter how trite it may sound. I'm always fine. Of course, I'm not talking about situations when something really sad happens, this is a separate issue. But I always believe in the best. And reality does the same. If you take everything that happens in the world to heart, you can just go crazy. Well, as my uncle, Dmitry Malikov, said twenty years ago in one of his interviews, when he was asked how to become famous and successful: “It takes a lot of work, but you also have to be a little lucky” 🙂

The family lived on the first floor, so the boy just jumped out of the window. The teacher constantly told Dima's grandmother that her grandson would never become a musician.

Later, the parents sent their son to a music school for a piano class. The boy began to compose songs at the age of 14, the first composition was called "Iron Soul".

In young age

Soon the music overshadowed the passion for sports: Dmitry devoted all his free time to playing the piano and writing his own songs.

Music

After graduating from 8 classes, Dmitry applied to the school at the Moscow Conservatory. The young man was enrolled in the piano class.
