The most favorite children's magazine in the USSR. Visual memory training

Maybe of course I'm exaggerating, but I remember exactly my childhood and my friends. The first favorite magazine was "Funny Pictures". Later, as they grew older, tastes changed. Later I fell in love with "Murzilka", then "Pioneer" and " Young Technician", even later "Ural Pathfinder" and "Around the World". But that was later. The first favorite magazine was "Funny Pictures"

Comics, riddles, poems and stories by the best children's writers and poets.

And of course bright, colorful pictures with captions.

This is what the magazine attracted the attention of children.

And of course, the most beloved were funny little men with their "Meeting of the Club of Merry Men".

Viktor Chizhikov, the author of the image of the Olympic bear cub Misha, recalled: “They didn’t want to accept Thumbelina for a long time in the Club. Because no one held her for a cheerful little man: either a toad almost married her, or a mole.

The history of the appearance of these characters on the pages children's magazine is. The main characters of the new magazine were supposed to be little funny people - Dunno, Chipollino, Pinocchio. However, they were not enough, and it was decided to come up with two more. These two were Pencil and Samodelkin, invented by children's writer Yuri Druzhkov and drawn by artist and magazine founder Ivan Semyonov

These characters became so popular that they moved from magazine pages to screens into animation.

The idea for the appearance of "Funny Pictures" belonged to Ivan Semenov, a popular cartoonist for the newspaper "Crocodile". He became the first editor of the magazine. Together with the artist Vitaly Statsinsky, he attracted his colleagues, academicians Aminadav Kanevsky and Alexei Laptev, to work. In honor of the release of the first issue of the magazine, Samuil Marshak wrote not just a poem, but an ode!

IN big family Soviet
Magazines and newspapers
Today is the most childish
The magazine is out.

His reader too
Still quite small
But smaller and younger
Magazine reader.

Magazine and child -
Bon Voyage!
Let them race
Grow, grow, grow!

The name of the magazine was chosen based on the fact that young children, for whom it was intended, willingly look at funny and funny pictures, accompanied by short witty inscriptions. But very soon it became clear that adults read the magazine together with children. This is how poems, stories, counting rhymes, and riddles appeared in Funny Pictures. The authors of "Funny Pictures" could be the envy of any domestic publication. The best worked there Soviet writers and artists: Korney Chukovsky, Agniya Barto, Sergey Mikhalkov, Evgeny Vedernikov, Vladimir Suteev, Konstantin Rotov, Evgeny Migunov, Viktor Chizhikov and many others

This year the magazine turned 60 - the first issue was published in September 1956. Here is the number

It only remains to add that the magazine still exists, although its popularity is no longer the same ...

The children's magazine "Funny Pictures" began to be published in September 1956. The author of the idea was a popular cartoonist of the Crocodile magazine, People's Artist of the USSR Ivan Maksimovich Semyonov. They also invented Pencilmain character"Funny Pictures", which became their symbol. We are talking about a funny, kind and resourceful little man with a sharpened pencil lead that replaces his nose. In his smart blue blouse, in an elegant beret and with a red bow around his neck, he clearly portrays creative personality, not devoid of the makings of a leader. Immediately after the creation of this character, it became clear that he would need assistants - Petrushka, Chipollino, Pinocchio and Dunno, who appeared already in the first issues of Funny Pictures.

The most venerable story, of course, parsley- an element of Russian folklore. This doll in a cap and with funny long sleeves has been entertaining people for centuries. Perhaps Petrushka is one of the most fun characters in the magazine. A clever, sociable, witty in his own way and, at the same time, a simple guy immediately fell in love with many young readers.

Cipollino- protagonist Italian writer D. Rodari, known for his left political views. It was this onion boy created by the author's imagination that was "responsible" for the ideological load of "Funny Pictures", without which their very existence in Soviet times it would be simply impossible. After all, at Rodari, Cipollino helped poor people-vegetables and fought with the rich - Senior Tomato, Countess Cherries and Prince Lemon.

A slightly different role Pinocchio- a wooden man with a long nose, a character from the fairy tale "The Golden Key" by A. Tolstoy. This hero in "Funny Pictures" went very far from author's intention. In the magazine, this fighter with injustice, somewhat similar to Chipollino, looked more like an ordinary naughty boy, who, however, was not devoid of positive character traits. Perhaps it was because of this duality that could interest him that children's souls were unconsciously drawn to him.

And here Dunno remained in the "Funny Pictures" the same as it was in the once popular children's fairy tales of the writer N. Nosov. His role is an eternal student who, out of ignorance, or even out of stubbornness, makes many mistakes. But all his adventures, in the end, ended well, which made Dunno an idol for preschool children.

It soon became clear that the characters described above were not enough for a children's magazine. And here came Samodelkin- the cutest robot of all times and peoples, the hero of the story “The Adventures of Pencil and Samodelkin” written by Yu. Druzhkov. Instead of arms and legs, he has springs, instead of a nose - a bolt. This is a jack of all trades, able to create and fix anything.

Another added character - Hurvinek. It was quite popular in Czechoslovakia for a long time. puppet theaters, and in the Soviet Union became known thanks to cartoons. Its creator in the 1920s was Yosef Skupa. An exemplary boy with protruding ears, who today would be called a "nerd", was designed to create an attractive image of an excellent student and an obedient child.

According to the authors of the magazine, a serious mistake in the early years of its existence was the lack of female characters. To remedy the situation, the company funny little men added Thumbelina from the tales of H. H. Andersen. Sometimes the character of N. Nosov appeared instead of her - Sineglazka. Both can be described as "Hurvinek in a skirt" - a good girl, an excellent student, who has become an example for many elementary school students.
