How to remove gel nails at home?

There are many opinions about the dangers of nail extensions. There are girls who think that it is better to give preference to natural manicure. But what about those who have their nails exfoliating, and the varnish quickly leaves? So it needs to be increased. For those who have already decided, another question is relevant - how to remove extended nails at home?

Removal of artificial nails is sometimes necessary, especially in order to give "relatives" a chance to rest and recover. This can be done in the salon, but often we do not have enough time, money or anything else. And then the question arises: how to do it at home, on your own? Is it real and are there any secrets of safe removal?

It is very important to know that it is not the extension procedure that spoils natural nails, but their removal, during which, without good preparation, you can make big mistakes. The answer to the question of how to remove extended nails at home depends on the technology and type of artificial nail plate (acrylic, gel, etc.).

Tools

As with the procedure in the salon, you can not do at home without a minimum set of tools. The basic list includes:

  • manicure tweezers (they are convenient to cling to the edge of the nail plate);
  • nail files, at least two: one is more rigid and wide, the other is less rigid and narrower;
  • polishing file;
  • cloth napkins or thick cotton pads;
  • acetone solution;
  • brush (it is convenient to use to remove dust and control the process of cutting acrylic or gel).

When removing acrylic nails, it will be convenient to use foil (regular food). Also, special solutions can be used as consumables (the choice depends on the material of the artificial nails), and safety glasses can be used for safety (but this is ideal).

Instruction

The procedure for home nail removal is not just cutting and breaking off nails. This is a very difficult matter, which should be approached as responsibly as possible, since a decision has been made to save money on a beauty salon. The specifics depend on the type of extension.

Here is a detailed description of the procedure.

  1. As a solvent, it is better to use a universal acrylic remover -AcrilikRemover. If it is not at hand, and you need to eliminate the nails this minute, then we use the usual nail polish remover (based on acetone) or acetone in its pure form. Then the subsequent restoration of "native" nails will become a forced necessity.
  2. From food foil we cut out plates for each finger - 10 pieces with an optimal size of 10x15 mm. We take a thick file and cotton pads, put on glasses.
  3. We cut off the upper, protruding part of the finish plate from each finger. This is a rather laborious and long work, because the material is quite durable. You need to be prepared for the fact that dust and small pieces will fly in all directions (that's why goggles are needed). After the protective gel is erased with incredible efforts and a hard file, the acrylic layer will be directly visible, which must be treated with a solvent.
  4. We moisten cotton pads with a solvent and put them on the nails, after which we wrap each finger in foil (as tightly as possible). The sight is amazing, but what can not be done for the sake of beauty! It is very important to fix the fingers tightly in the foil - there should be no air there.
  5. We wait 30-40 minutes. A nice bonus - there is time for a long-delayed viewing of your favorite series, a scientific program, for meditation or stargazing. Hands must be free. In no case do not try to touch anything, press the remote control button or remove scattered things. After the expiration of the period, we remove all unnecessary (first from one finger) - the acrylic should take on a jelly-like consistency. Remove residues immediately, as the substance quickly hardens. You can not remove the foil with a tampon from all fingers at once, you need to do this in turn. At the end, we wipe each finger with a swab dipped in solvent - for perfect cleansing.
  6. At the last stage, wash your hands with soap and treat with a moisturizer.

Nails made from biogel, which is positioned as a less harmful material, are removed in a similar way, but professional solvents are indispensable here (acetone will not work).

How to remove gel nails at home?

Gel plates are very strong, so the process of removing them is more complicated than in the case of acrylic. Stages:

  1. Cut off the top layer. It will take a lot of strength - as well as patience. In the process, you need to control the thickness, especially near the border between the natural and extended nails.
  2. In the middle of the process, we change the file to a more abrasive one. In order not to miss the moment and not cut off your nail, you need to periodically moisten the surface with a swab with a solvent. Sawing is stopped at a distance of 2 mm from natural nails (let a little gel remain).
  3. With the help of a nail file, we give the hands aesthetics, soak the nails with a greasy cream (both the plate and the cuticle).

If the extension process included the use of both gel and acrylic, then you can’t do without a salon. It is better not to risk it, because it is unlikely that you will be able to cope with it yourself.

How to remove extended nails on tips at home?

One of the varieties of gel extension is tips. Tips are ready-made plates that are attached to the surface of natural nails using a gel. Their use allows you to achieve a very accurate result (often produced in the form of a jacket). The process of removing tips is similar to the elimination of regular gel nails, but there are some features:

  • for convenience, you can use special baths (for one finger or several), which are filled with a special solution and hands are immersed there for the same 30-40 minutes;
  • when removing tips, it is better not to use acetone or its derivatives;
  • An alternative to removing extended nails with tips is to use only a cotton pad soaked in a solution. We place the nail in it and scroll with force until the coating is completely dissolved.

Any manipulations with the use of solvents cannot but affect the health of natural nails. Therefore, great attention must be paid to restorative care. Here are some useful options:

  • professional products (strengthening creams, coatings, oils), each of which solves a specific problem (delamination, darkening, thinning);
  • nutrition, taking synthetic multivitamins (with sufficient calcium, B vitamins) and supplements (omega-3 or fish oil);
  • salon services: paraffin therapy, baths with medicinal compositions, “sealing”;
  • home-made baths (salt, oil, with the addition of iodine) also give an excellent effect when used in combination.

If there is no serious damage, it is enough to cover the nails with a layer of fortified varnish and give them time to recover on their own.
