Plot

One miller had a daughter, and in a conversation with the king, in order to give himself weight, he said that his daughter could spin gold from straw. The king put her in a room full of straw. He instructed the girl to fulfill the promise. In fact, she did not know how to do anything like that, but suddenly a dwarf appeared and offered to help. The girl gave the dwarf her necklace for help, then the ring, but the king demanded even more gold: and when there was nothing to give to the girl in return, the dwarf asked her for the firstborn from her future marriage. When the king took her as his wife and she had a child, a dwarf appeared and demanded his reward. The queen begged to leave her a child - and the dwarf made a condition that if she guessed his name in three days, he would leave her a child. The queen sent messengers to all parts of the country to find out rare names, and one of the messengers overheard the dwarf himself humming a song:

Today I'm baking, tomorrow I'm brewing beer,

I will take away the child from the queen;
Ah, it's good that no one knows

That Rumpelstiltskin call me!

The messenger told the queen the name of the dwarf. The queen named him. "ABOUT! It was the devil himself who advised you, the devil himself!” - the little man shouted and, out of anger, stamped his right foot on the ground so that he went into it up to his waist, and in a rage grabbed his left leg with both hands and tore himself in half.

Rumpelstiltskin in psychology

In Sigmund Freud's monograph The Artist and Fantasizing, the dwarf Rumpelstiltskin is mentioned in an example illustrating the postulate that fairy tale motifs are often found in dreams, or rather, a dream is often interpreted by a person as a semblance of a fairy tale known to him. Freud suggests that this may be an appeal "to a deeper infantile layer of dream ideas".

Rumpelstiltskin Information About

Once upon a time there lived a miller. He was poor, but he had a beautiful daughter. It happened to him one day to have a conversation with the king; and so, in order to command respect, he says to the king:

I have a daughter who knows how to spin golden yarn from straw.

The king says to the miller:

I really like this business. If your daughter is as skilled as you say, then bring her to my castle tomorrow, I'll see how she can do it.

The miller brought the girl to the king, the king took her to a room full of straw, gave her a spinning wheel, a spindle and said:

Now get to work; but if you do not spin this straw into golden yarn during the night by early morning, then you will not escape death. - Then he himself locked her with a key, and she was left there alone.

Here sits poor Melnikov's daughter, she does not know what to think of, how to save her life, she did not know how to spin golden yarn from straw; and she became so frightened that she finally began to cry. Suddenly the door opens and he enters her room. little man and says:

Hello young miller! Why are you crying so bitterly?

Ax, - answered the girl, - I must spin the straw into golden yarn, but I don’t know how to do it.

And the man says:

What will you give me if I spin it for you?

Your necklace, - answered the girl.

The little man took the necklace from her, sat down to the spinning wheel, and - turr-turr-turr - the spindle will turn three times - here is a full reel of golden yarn. He inserted another, and - turr-turr-turr - the spindle will turn three times - here is the second reel full of golden yarn; and so he worked until morning, and he spun all the straw, and all the reels were full of golden yarn.

The sun had just begun to rise, and the king had already appeared; when he saw the golden yarn, he was amazed and amazed, rejoiced, but his heart became even more greedy for gold. And he ordered Melnikov's daughter to be taken to the second room, and she was larger than the first and also full of straw, and ordered her, if life is dear to her, to spin all the straw during the night.

The girl did not know what to do, how I am burning here to help; but the door opened again, a little man appeared and asked:

What will you give me if I spin your straw into gold?

I'll give you a ring from my finger, - the girl answered.

The little man took the ring, began to buzz the spindle again, and by morning he spun all the straw into shiny golden yarn. The king, seeing whole heaps of golden yarn, was delighted, but even this gold seemed to him not enough, and he ordered the miller's daughter to be taken to an even larger room, and it was full of straw, and said:

You have to spin it all overnight. If you succeed, you will be my wife. “Although she is the daughter of a miller,” he thought, “but richer than his wife, however, I cannot find in all the world.”

Now the girl was left alone, and the little man appeared for the third time and asked:

What will you give me if I spin the straw for you this time too?

I don't have anything else to give you.

Then promise me your first child when you become queen.

“Who knows how it will still be there!” thought Melnikov's daughter. Yes, and how was it possible to help grief? I had to promise the little man what he asked for; and for this the little man spun the straw into golden yarn for her once more.

The king comes in the morning, sees - everything is done as he wanted. Then he arranged a wedding, and the beauty, the daughter of a miller, became queen.

A year later she gave birth to a beautiful child, but she forgot about that little man. Suddenly he enters her room and says:

Now give me back what you promised.

The queen was frightened and began to offer him the wealth of the whole kingdom, so that he would only agree to leave her child. But the man said:

No, a living thing is dearer to me than all the treasures in the world.

The queen grieved, wept, and the little man took pity on her:

I give you three days, he said, if during this time you learn my name, then let the child stay with you.

All night the queen remembered different names that she had ever heard, and sent a messenger throughout the country to find out what other names there were. The next morning a little man appeared, and she began to list the names, starting with Kaspar, Melchior, Balzer, and named everything in order, which she knew, but to each name the little man answered:

No, that's not my name.

The next day, the queen ordered to find out from the neighbors what their names were, and began to call the little man unusual and rare names:

Or maybe your name is Rippenbist, or Gammelswade, or Schnurbein?

But he kept answering:

No, that's not my name.

On the third day the messenger returned and said:

I could not find a single new name, but when I approached high mountain, covered with a dense forest, where only foxes and hares live, I saw a small hut, a fire was burning in front of it, and a very funny, funny little man was galloping through it; he jumped on one leg and shouted:

Today I'm baking, tomorrow I'm brewing beer,

I will take away the child from the queen;

Ah, it's good that no one knows

What Rumpelstiltskin 1 call me!

You can imagine how delighted the queen was when she heard this name! And so, when a little man soon appeared in her room and asked:

Well, lady queen, what is my name? she first asked:

Maybe Kunz?

Or maybe Heinz?

So, perhaps you are Rumpelstiltskin!

The devil himself suggested it to you, the devil himself suggested it! the little man yelled and stamped his right foot in anger so hard that he fell into the ground up to his waist. And then, in a rage, he grabbed his left leg with both hands and tore himself in half.

Series Once upon a time, in a Fairytail- on my shortlist. I regularly follow new series, sometimes I can't wait for the translation - it intrigues me so much. There is certainly a lot of valuable material in this series for a movie lover, for a writer and for a psychologist, which I am all rolled into one.
Today a thought popped into my head.
Rumplestiltskin seems to be one of the most strong characters in the series, really just a ladies' man.
Okay, that was too strong a word. He's just a man. And his character vividly illustrates one male feature- to be dependent on a woman.
Let's take a look at his story.
At first he was an exemplary husband. There was no particular character in it. An ordinary man, henpecked.
Goes to war. There he meets a soothsayer (woman No. 1), who informs him that he will die in battle and his future son loses a father, and a wife loses a son. He escapes and becomes a known coward.
At the same time, the wife (woman No. 2) ceases to see in him even the slightest man, Rumpel's self-esteem falls below the baseboard. The wife escapes with the pirate. Rumpel goes after her, finds out that she left with the pirates of her own free will, flies off the coils, becomes Dark. In general, all the troubles because of women. Further. He lives quietly and happily in the role of the Dark One.
Meets Cora (woman #3), teaches her magic, falls in love with her. He is already ready to be a happy family man, to which she replies that she likes being a queen more than just a beloved woman.
Then he meets Belle (woman No. 4), a girl who stubbornly sees in him good, kind, bright. For her, he suffers a lot, besides, he is changing for the better, and then ... Belle crosses the city limits of Storybrooke and loses her memory.
When she wakes up, Regina (woman No. 5) inspires her that she is not Belle, but a certain Lacey (or Lesya - she didn’t make out the name when translating Tochka TV) (woman No. 6 or, if you like, woman No. 4 fraction 1), and Lacey - bad girl and she likes bad Rumpel, which he becomes. Where all this will lead him is still unclear. I think he will still die in the series, and not because of Henry, as was said in the prediction, but probably because of a woman.
Decisively, Rumpel has all the troubles in life from women.
Or... he just picks the wrong women.
Seriously, are you a man or what. How much can you step on the same rake and be led by the desires of us, fickle. Troubles from women happen only to men who choose women incorrectly. Moreover, when he is alone, without any women, everything even works out well for him, he fools Regina, Emma and the whole city, if necessary.
If handled properly, then Once upon a time, in a Fairytail- it's just a flower garden of weak men. Snow White is definitely the leader in the pair - Snow White - Prince Charming, Cora suppresses her husband so much that he is generally an episodic character in history, Regina is a superfeminist, and almost all of Emma's men die one way or another, which is also for good reason. The only one a real man in the series, oddly enough, the ten-year-old boy Henry. He doesn't let himself be fooled by any of his mothers, let alone other characters.
Finally. I like the series Once upon a time, in a Fairytail, I like Rumpel - my favorite hero, I love and respect men. It's just when he turned evil again in episode 20 of season 2 and brushed off Belle-Lacy's boyfriend, and she liked it - “Seriously, man! Well, what's wrong with you."
