On May 26 and 27, 2017, Russian ninth-graders will show how they learned to read, listen, write and speak English.
Before we touch on the topic of answers, let's clarify what the OGE is. The abbreviation means "basic state exam". It is not the only one, there is also the GVE - the state final exam. It is taken by those guys who study in closed schools or have some health restrictions. GVE is fundamentally different from OGE. It does not have a test component: it is a traditional ticket exam. The OGE, in essence, is the Unified State Examination, only for the ninth grade. The entire content of the subject is checked, tasks are presented according to a strictly organized system, the examiner does not see the examinee. Both exams are related to the state final certification (GIA), so we will talk specifically about the GIA (OGE).
Changes in the OGE 2017 in English
A foreign language, and in particular English, is one of the few subjects that has undergone some changes this year. They are, however, insignificant and concern only the oral part. So, you will have to give your vote not in two tasks, but in three, and it will be necessary to speak not to a “live” examiner, but to a computer through a headset. Hence the changed number of tasks - 36 - and the total time of the exam - 135 minutes (120 minutes for the written part and 15 for the oral part).
The written part consists of classical sections: listening, reading, writing and knowledge of vocabulary with grammar. Almost all tasks will require only a short answer: either numbers / numbers corresponding to the correct answer / answers, or numbers, words, phrases. Only one task in the written part will require a detailed answer - a personal letter of 100-120 words.
The following forms of questions will be encountered:
- with the choice of the correct answer (or several correct answers);
- to establish a correspondence between the elements of two sets;
- to fill in the gaps in the text by bringing the given form of the word into the corresponding grammatical norm.
Answers to the OGE 2017 in English
There are no ready answers. There are a lot of scammers who sell fake answers to fake "original" KIMs of 2017, but there are no real KIMs of 2017. If you are haunted by the uncertainty that you will cope with the OGE in English, do two things. First - use the remaining time more rationally than ever. If possible, immerse yourself in a language environment abroad or at a private school in your city. It would be useful to partially create such an environment yourself, sticking leaves with English words on things in the house, more often communicating with friends, tutors. And the second - remember, the world will not collapse because you do not pass the exam. Yes, you probably won't pass. So what? Allow this opportunity, and fear will go away, and success, on the contrary, will become closer.
OGE in 2017
OGE is taken in 14 subjects. In addition to English, it is also possible to take German, French or Spanish from the languages. Of the remaining subjects, you can choose physics, chemistry, biology, literature, geography, history, social science, computer science. And, of course, mandatory exams: in mathematics and the Russian language.

The purpose of this manual is to help 9th grade students prepare for the English language exam in the form of the main state exam (OGE) as soon as possible. It can also be useful for teachers who will find in it the necessary material for working in the classroom.
The collection contains typical training options for examination papers that can be used as practical material for preparing for the exam. The manual is focused on adaptation to test control technologies, taking into account their new format and content.
In accordance with the demonstration version of the OGE, the training options consist of a written and an oral part. The written part of the work consists of four sections ("Assignments for listening", "Assignments for reading", "Assignments for grammar and vocabulary", "Assignment for writing"), which includes 33 tasks.
Section 1 (“Listening tasks”) contains 8 tasks, of which the first two are for establishing correspondence and 6 tasks with the choice of one correct answer out of three proposed. The recommended time to complete the section is 30 minutes.
Section 2 (“Reading Tasks”) contains 9 tasks, one of which is to establish correspondence and 8 tasks with the choice of one correct answer from three proposed. The recommended time to complete the section is 30 minutes.
Section 3 (“Grammar and Vocabulary Tasks”) contains 15 short answer tasks. The recommended time to complete the section is 30 minutes.
Section 4 (“Writing Assignment”) is a small written task (writing a personal letter). The recommended time to complete the section is 30 minutes.
The total time for the written part of the exam is 120 minutes.
The oral part includes 3 tasks.
Task 1 involves reading aloud a short text of a popular science nature. Preparation time - 1.5 minutes.
In task 2, it is proposed to take part in a conditional dialogue-interrogation: answer six telephone survey questions heard in the audio recording.
In task 3, it is necessary to build a coherent monologue statement on a specific topic based on the plan. Preparation time - 1.5 minutes.
The total response time for one OGE participant (including preparation time) is 15 minutes.

GIA stands for state final certification, which is given by students after finishing nine grades. Along with the term GIA, the OGE (main state exam) is also used. As part of the OGE, students must pass two compulsory subjects, and exams in other academic subjects: literature, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, history, social studies, foreign languages (English, German, French and Spanish), computer science and information technology - surrender optionally.
How many subjects to take in the OGE in 2017?
Starting this year, schoolchildren after nine classes within the framework of the State Academic Examination will take three electives instead of two. In this case, the assessment in two subjects will affect the final grades in the certificate. The assessment in the third elective subject in 2017 (because this is the first year of implementation) will not affect the certificate.
For those who decide to choose a foreign (English, German, French or Spanish) as an elective subject, today I will talk about the required number of points that you need to score in order to pass the GIA.
This year, the maximum number of points that an examinee can receive for completing the entire examination paper in foreign languages (English, German, French or Spanish) is 70 points.
If the student taking the exam after the end of the ninth grade has from 0 to 28 points, then this is equivalent to a “two”, for a “troika” you need to score from 29 to 45 points. "Good" can be obtained if the work is rated from 46 to 58 points, "excellent" - from 59 to 70 points.
How long does it take to prepare for the OGE?
You need to start preparing now. Before you start preparing, decide for yourself whether you will pore over a foreign language on your own or use the services of a tutor. The demo version of the OGE 2017 presented at the end of this post will help you decide on this - English.
In our school, experienced and highly qualified teachers prepare for the USE and GIA. Since in most cases the knowledge gained within the walls of the school is not enough to pass this exam, it is advisable to start the lessons in advance.
How is the preparation for the GIA going?
It should be noted that the peculiarities of preparation depend on the knowledge of a foreign language with which the student began to study with us. Already at the first lesson, the teacher introduces the student to the format of the exam. Then, with the help of testing and oral conversation, he reveals the strengths and weaknesses of his foreign language. Preparation is complex, as the exam consists of oral and written parts. Accordingly, in each lesson, sufficient attention is paid to grammatical aspects, vocabulary, reading, working with text, listening and speaking. Usually, the most underdeveloped language skills among schoolchildren, of course, are speaking and listening (understanding foreign speech and the ability to answer questions after listening).

- a scale for recalculating the primary score for the performance of the examination paper in 2013 into a mark on a five-point scale.
Changes in the demo versions of the OGE in English
IN demo version of the OGE 2015 in English the structure of the variant has changed:
Numbering assignments has become through throughout the variant without letter designations A, B, C.
The form of recording the answer in tasks with a choice of answers has been changed: the answer must be written down digit with the number of the correct answer(not circled).
IN demo version of the OGE 2016 in English compared to 2015 demo there were no changes in the written part, the oral part was brought into line with the oral part of the exam in English in grade 11.
IN demonstration versions of the OGE 2017 - 2019 in English compared to 2016 demo there were no changes.
IN demo version of the OGE 2020 in English compared to the 2019 demo, the following changes were made: changes:
- Section 2 ( "Reading Assignments"):
was task 9 changed: OGE participants need to determine which of the six written texts contains the answer to the proposed question (there is one extra question in the task). for completing the task 6 points;
reduced amount of text to read to tasks for determining the correspondence of statements to the read text;
reduced to 7 number of tasks to determine the correspondence of statements to the read text (corresponds / does not correspond / does not say in the text). Maximum Points for completing assignments 10–16 – 7 points.
- Section 5 ( "Tasks for speaking"):
V task 3(creating a coherent monologue statement) added one aspect. In this regard, the relevant changes were included in the assessment criteria for the task(in the criterion "Solution of a communicative task"). The maximum score for task 3 has not changed.
