Career in the oil industry. Who is an oilman? Profession "oilman": description, features of training and interesting facts

Specialty - tampon

Required education: no special education required

Specific abilities necessary for successful mastery of the profession:

No special mental and physical abilities are required, but it is necessary to have good health, an accommodating character of a never discouraged person and a tendency to patiently perform physically difficult work operations. It is desirable to have well-developed muscles.

The nature and content of the work:

Hard physical labor that requires certain special skills developed directly at the workplace. Work away from home and family, and also often away from human habitation on a rotational basis - conservation of wells, or liquidation of wells that have exhausted their resource. The work is exclusively collective, in a team of pluggers.

Obvious advantages

High need for personnel, stable and constantly growing high wages, work in the fresh air, the opportunity to admire the taiga

Pitfalls, cons are obvious

The work is clearly only for men and then not for everyone. For half a month or longer, you have to live away from your family in workers' hostels, in which, after work, gatherings with alcohol are probably arranged. Hard physical labor does not cause any negative consequences in terms of health for everyone. In summer, the taiga is full of vile.

Possible occupational diseases: sciatica, musculoskeletal system, consequences of possible hypothermia.

Fork of salaries (in rubles):

One for residents of all regions, since work in any case takes place far from home and is paid very differently - from 35,000 (at the beginning of work) to 150,000 (with a high workload)

Here, for example, is what one of the representatives of this specialty writes to his friend.

“Oilman is a generalized, more specifically in Russian, my specialty is plugger(from the word "tampon"). After a pipe (casing string) has been lowered into a well just drilled in the ground, cementing is performed. The gap between the pipe and the ground is cemented, which kills two birds with one stone: the pipe is fixed in the ground and the annular space is sealed to prevent interlayer crossflows of formation fluids. Liquidation - as a variant of our work. An exhausted well can be completely filled with cement to prevent fountains, and there is no need for constant monitoring ... With a shift method, we have a 12-hour working day, but sometimes we have to work longer, because. the drilling rig will not stand: it is expensive. It is difficult when you immediately have to go from one drilling rig to the second, third, and drag the iron with you. Any healthy man who has a driver's license and can lift and carry 200 meters of sugar can work for us - the rest still needs to be taught from scratch ... We work where there are drilling rigs and drilling is carried out, and this can be anywhere - and near cities, and in the dense taiga, where, as in the song, only a helicopter can fly - no TV, no mobile phones. In short, we live like bears sometimes. The shift usually lasts four weeks. If we work near the city, then five weeks.

A drilling team of five people sets up equipment as needed, connects it with hoses and pipes to each other and to the drilling rig, and during the injection process, cement is mixed with water in the unit, after which this solution is supplied by high-pressure pumps to the well. At the end of the injection, the unit and pipes are washed from cement. We collect pipes and hoses and go to the base or to another drilling rig.

We live on a work shift, depending on the project, either in a hotel or in a rented apartment (at the expense of the enterprise, of course), if in the taiga, then in a comfortable hostel.

The salary at first is not very good, somewhere in the region of 25-30 thousand rubles (average earnings), after advanced training it increases by 1.5-2 times.

Physical strength is needed, because. despite all the means of mechanization, parts of the high-pressure pipeline, weighing up to 80 kg, have to be installed and connected manually.

As you can see, you can’t drag a sissy and lover of urban comfort into such a job with any kind of earnings. But a brave, strong, dexterous connoisseur of taiga romance has something to look for there - reliable friends, life experiences, and satisfaction from creative work for real guys. Nevertheless, the difficulties and inconveniences of working in the fuel and energy complex are usually compensated not only by fairly high and, most importantly, stable earnings, but also by earlier retirement, preferential sanatorium and resort vouchers for the whole family, and extended vacations. Somewhere, fuel and energy companies provide their promising employees with good service housing or provide a profitable loan to buy an apartment (or build their own house). It is clear that such a gift must be earned, but it is still a big plus in working conditions in the fuel and energy complex.

Features of the profession of an oilman

Oil is one of the most valuable and expensive minerals in the world. In addition, oil can also be considered the most effective instrument of politics - it is because of the possibility of taking possession of oil production sites that wars and negotiations between states begin. Oil can revive the economy of any country. This resource today is not in vain called black gold. Oil production is carried out by people of various professions and specialties, which can be combined under the general name of oil workers - employees of oil fields.

Considering that most modern countries are very dependent on oil, an oilman who is engaged in the extraction of such an important resource can bring great benefits to his country and its economy. The relevance of the profession directly depends on such factors as the region of residence of a specialist, his consent to leave his home for a long time. After all, oil workers are needed only where oil is produced, and in order to find work, specialists have to leave their hometown and even the country. The work involves a shift method, so you need to be prepared for such a schedule - not everyone can withstand difficult conditions and prefer to work in other areas with a more familiar work schedule.

In order to work as an oilman, regardless of specialization, a person must be in good health, be in excellent physical shape, be diligent and attentive, and have a technical mindset. For some reason, it is generally accepted in society that for a successful career as an oilman it is enough to have physical strength, but this is far from being the case. The specialist will have to monitor pressure gauges, respond to various pressure changes, use complex power tools, etc.

A qualified specialist can count on a high level of income, since oil is always appreciated. Particularly good prospects open up for those who are ready to leave to work for one of the Western companies - there the world's oil magnates agree to generously pay experienced specialists for work. True, there is always a risk that the next sale of company shares to a new owner will entail a change in personnel and you will have to look for work.

The profession of an oilman is associated with a certain risk - a specialist at a well risks his own life and health. Cases of oil fires right at the place of production are not uncommon. Many operations have to be performed at a considerable height, which also increases the risk of falls and injuries. An important disadvantage of the work of an oilman is the significant remoteness of the place of work both from his native home and from any settlement. Many employees in this field are generally forced to work at sea, which implies even greater danger. As a rule, all these shortcomings are compensated by high wages, which allow them to live comfortably and help the family.

The profession of an oilman is best suited to young people in good health (preferably without a family) who need to earn good money to start their own business, buy an apartment, etc. For people with not very good health and those who have a family, such work can only bring longing for home and problems with well-being.

The need for clean, safe, affordable energy is increasing every year. Following the growth in demand, oil production is also growing. You can help achieve the goals of the oil industry. If you want to change the world for the better, love solving complex problems, looking for an interesting job and striving for financial security - you should seriously consider career in the oil industry.

What makes a career in the oil industry attractive? High salary, high bonuses, significant social package. But not only material rewards are attractive.

The oil industry is one of the most complex. What does it mean? This means that almost any talented person in something can find application in it. These are chemists, mathematicians, drillers, financiers, lawyers, accountants, mechanics, technologists, geologists, power engineers, economists and other various professions.

Petroleum engineer is one of the most promising professions

How is this data obtained? The Society of Petroleum Engineers sends out an invitation to participate in the study to its members. After receiving the questionnaire data, a statistical analysis is carried out and a report is compiled. It is clear that the data reflect the salaries of members of the Society of Petroleum Engineers only. And these are, as a rule, already established specialists who occupy not the last place in large oil producing companies. After all, membership in the Society of Petroleum Engineers is paid. Therefore, there are, as a rule, experienced specialists, for whom the employer company pays annual membership fees.

Psychologists have identified one very interesting rule. Works as a railroad. No matter how you slice it, you can't get away from it. But besides all this, the most important thing:

What qualities should a person have to become a successful oilman?

He must love his profession. A person who likes to do what he does can achieve good results in any field of activity.

Profession oilman

One of the most valuable minerals and commodities in the world today is oil. This is a tool of geopolitics, wars are fought for it, it revives the economy of any state. Oil today is called black gold and this resource is extracted by people of different professions, who are united under the general name - oilmen. This is the name of workers in the oil fields from an engineer to an assistant driller.

Oilfield traces found in Iraq are over 4,000 years old. So, then there were already oilmen. Oil was first seen in Moscow in the 16th century and was called "burning water". Boreholes were invented only closer to the middle of the 19th century and then they began to be used as the main method of oil production. Until 1823, no one knew that oil could be refined and kerosene extracted from it. The profession of an oilman gained its distribution already in the 20th century, when the widespread use of this fuel began. ...

Most countries in the modern world depend on oil more than on the political situation in the country. Of course, an oilman who extracts a resource so necessary for the people brings great benefits to his fellow citizens. The need for specialists in this field depends on the region of the country and, in general, on the place on the world map. In our state, most of the oil deposits have already been discovered, but not all deposits are being developed. Therefore, it is not difficult for an oilman to find a job, but he must be ready to work away from home on a rotational basis.

People in this profession should have a penchant for technical sciences, good physical condition and be attentive. The oilman must keep an eye on pressure gauges, respond to pressure changes in time, own power tools and have many other skills, depending on his specific function in the field. A good specialist in this field has great prospects. Oil is a good way to make money, including for field employees. In addition, a smart engineer and designer of gas wells can go to work abroad, where the world's oil giants generously pay experienced specialists.

An oilman at a well is risking his life, as there have been cases of black gold burning right in the field. Some operations have to be performed at high altitude, so the possibility of falling and injury is not excluded. A significant disadvantage should also be considered the remoteness of the place of work from home and in general from settlements. A significant part of the employees of this industry work in general at sea, which entails even more dangers. But in general, all this is compensated by decent wages.

Petroleum engineers are trained at universities and institutes. The preparation of such a specialist takes 5 years, after which an internship at the place of work is required. Workers such as a driller or an installer of well equipment and oil rigs are trained in vocational schools and in the training centers of oil production enterprises. Often, graduates are qualified as an assistant or junior specialist and only after a few years of experience can become an independent worker.
