Biography

Biography of Gregory Lemarchal - the story of a courageous “French angel” who lost his last Stand April 30, 2007. But even after Lemarchal’s death, the memory of him and his talent continues to live, including in the name of the fight against cystic fibrosis, a disease with which Gregory lost the battle.

Gregory was born in the town of La Tronche. He was just a baby when doctors diagnosed him with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease that destroys the lungs, liver, intestines and pancreas. Nevertheless, as a child, Gregory was the same as other children - he went in for sports and even became the French champion in acrobatic rock and roll! But with age, the disease made itself felt more and more - sometimes the boy had to sit at home for days on IVs. One day he lost a bet to his father and had to sing karaoke - seeing how others reacted to his voice, for the first time in his life Lemarchal realized that his parents’ stories about him being talented were true.

For all of France, the singer Lemarchal was born on September 3, 2004, when he appeared on stage fourth season major music reality show Star Academy. For four months the country watched with bated breath the fate of this talented boy, and finally, on December 22, 2004, the winner of the project became known. It was Lemarchal - “The Little Prince” French music, as he was later dubbed. After the project ended, Gregory simply could not go into oblivion - his first single received honorary title platinum disc, and already in April 2005, Lemarchal’s first album “Je deviens moi” (“I am becoming myself”) was released, which immediately took first place in the charts. Gregory went on a solo tour - performing in all cities of France, as well as in Belgium and Switzerland, during which a live album by Gregory Lemarchal was recorded. Everywhere he was met by crowds of fans, to whom the singer Lemarchal responded with no less love than they gave him.

Stardom not only did not go to Gregory’s head, but gave him strength to live and work further. But at the end of 2006, the disease made itself felt again, and Gregory soon needed a lung transplant and required hospitalization. On the evening of April 29, Gregory was placed in an induced coma awaiting a transplant, and on April 30, 2007, Gregory Lemarchal died, which became a tragic loss for the Gregory family, for France and for the Gregorians (as Gregory's fans call themselves) around the world. Gregory's cause of death was complications from cystic fibrosis. After the “French angel” passed away, two more posthumous albums by Gregory Lemarchal and several singles were released.

Lemarchal's funeral took place on May 3, 2007. The grave of Lemarchal, the little prince of France, is located in his cemetery hometown Sonnaz. On the day of the funeral, more than five thousand Gregory fans arrived in Chambery to honor the memory of Lemarchal.
Lemarchal's creative biography was very short - but during the three years that he performed, he managed to win hearts huge amount people: with his amazing voice, sincerity, greatness of soul and, of course, the courage with which he fought the disease.

Episodes of life

Gregory Lemarchal was very friendly with singer Lara Fabian. She admitted that it seemed to her that she and Gregory were spiritually very close. Because of their friendship, rumors arose that Lemarchal and Fabian - romance novel, which was not true. After Lemarchal’s death, a video of the singer’s alleged performance began to spread on the Internet after the death of Lara Fabian’s husband, Gregory Lemarchal, when fans began singing to her from the audience On t’aime and Fabian burst into tears of happiness. The caption was erroneous, and the video was from 2002, recorded five years before Gregory's death.

According to the story of doctor Gregory Lemarchal, the young man allegedly voluntarily refused a lung transplant, afraid of losing his voice, choosing the stage rather than life. But this contradicts the book of his mother, Laurence, in which she told how Gregory fought for his life until the last, but, alas, could not wait for donor lungs.

The case of Gregory Lemarchal is alive - after his death, the parents of the talented singer created an association to combat cystic fibrosis, collecting millions of euros in donations in a matter of days. After Lemarchal's death, a movement against cystic fibrosis began in France, and the number of organ donors increased significantly. The Gregorian Society also exists in Russia - fans of the talented young man not only promote his music, but also help children with cystic fibrosis.

Gregory Lemarchal died on April 30, 2007. And there are still his fans all over the world.

One of the fans wrote this secret: “I read about Gregory that, dying in the hospital, he forbade his parents to pray for donor lungs to be found. I didn’t want to live at the expense of another person’s death. A very young guy, but so much courage and what talent... Singing with 20% of your lungs, when even talking is a huge job... Surprised... Gave me a reason to think... Well done, boy! May you rest in peace!”

After the death of Gregory Lemarchal, Lara Fabian came out to perform the song “Je t`aime” (“I love you”) in memory of Gregory, but was unable to sing. And then, instead of the singer, the whole hall in Nimes sang this song, replacing the words in it, which then first turned into “On t`aime” (“We love you”). Producer Rick Alisson, who accompanied Lara Fabian on piano, later approached the singer and said: “See... And you said that you have nothing to live for... Live for them, for the people.” She still sings. But that's just beautiful legend about the love of Gregory and Lara. People just want that kind of love...

The concert that didn't take place...

On June 16, 2007, a concert was supposed to take place, called by the singer himself “an evening of friends.” But it didn’t take place.
The last message that Gregory Lemarchal managed to write to his fans was published on his website two days before his death: “Dear Gregorians, never in my life have I sent you a message with such pain as now.
Indeed, the greatest joy of 2007 for me was this concert on June 16, this “evening of friends” that I wanted to hold for you, which I dreamed up and created with such inspiration for you, to thank you for your constant support and to give you a little happiness - the happiness that you give me every day for three years now. But, unfortunately, in at the moment My health condition does not allow me to implement this project, which was so dear to me.
Doctors strongly advise or even rather force me to take a forced break for at least 3 months in order to undergo treatment and recover.
My heart is breaking, I am incredibly sad, but I am forced to postpone our meeting with you and reschedule it for an indefinite period, the approximate dates of which I will inform you later.
The fan club team will soon explain to you how you can get your money back for concert tickets. Of course, I will try to continue to give you news about myself, and know that I need your support and love more than ever. I love you. Gregory»…

Biography of Gregory Lemarchal

Gregory Lemarchal was born on May 13, 1983 in France, in the city of La Tronche. At the age of 1 year and 8 months, he was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, a rare hereditary incurable disease caused by a mutation in one of the genes. During this disease, the exocrine glands are damaged, severe dysfunctions of the respiratory organs and gastrointestinal tract. But the diagnosis did not break Gregory. On the contrary, he made me live a short but very bright life...

Gregory was a very active child and loved to play sports. He also danced, and in 1995 he became the French champion in acrobatic rock and roll. But he was especially interested in basketball and football, was a fan of Marseille Olympic and even planned to become a sports journalist, while Gregory’s parents always dreamed of sending their son to music school, because they knew about him good voice and hearing. Gregory himself only wanted to play sports and ignored all his parents’ offers to take up music. He deliberately falsified at auditions for a music school and made every effort so that he would not be accepted there. But due to Gregory’s health, a career as a professional athlete was not available to him.

Gregory's mother wrote:“He watched his friends play in the yard without him, while he himself was forced to sit at home and undergo either a kinesitherapy session (physical therapy) or drip with antibiotics. Yes, of course, it’s not at all fun to spend two or three times a day for an entire hour on a drip, starting all this at five thirty in the morning, and so on for at least two weeks. Gregory refused treatment and agreed only when it was completely unbearable for him. He also hated kinesitherapy sessions, especially when he thought he was feeling better. This was a constant source of conflict between us. I pestered him: “Baby, have you taken your medicine? Have you done inhalations? What time does the kinesiotherapist arrive today? Life was a burden to him. One day, his doctor called him in for a one-on-one conversation: “Gregory, don’t let cystic fibrosis decide for you. Only you yourself must take power over him and decide when you should be treated and when not.”

“My Angel” is a dedication to my beloved girl. Gregory wanted a child, but didn't have time...

Lemarchal's lucky accident

In July 1998 future fate Gregory defined it as a happy accident in a certain sense. He made a bet with his father that the French team would not win the World Cup. But the French team won, and according to the terms of the dispute, Gregory had to sing the song “Je m’voyais” by Charles Aznavour at karaoke in the town of Argeles-sur-mer. When the young man fulfilled the terms of the dispute, everyone who was present at his speech was amazed by the beauty and power of his voice. The talent was obvious. His illness made it almost impossible to sing, but Gregory, despite his illness, began to sing, and did it absolutely amazingly.

And the swing of struggle for success and recognition with ignorance and failure began. Gregory began taking vocal lessons and took part in 1999 television program"Graines de Stars" and the competition "Tremplin des étoiles" (equivalent to " Morning Star"), but the victory did not go to him. But Lemarchal continued to work on his performance technique and diligently took vocal lessons. Gregory's motivation was so high that he even dropped out of school in his penultimate grade. In the summer of 2003, during the casting for the musical Belle, belle, belle, the producers offered him a role, but he was convinced that he did not need to perform in this project. And in 2003, he successfully passed the casting for the musical “Adam and Eve” for the role of Adam. The musical was shown in many cities in France, and even a single was released. But the musical did not reach Paris. In 2004, Gregory came to the casting for the “Noubell Star” program (analogous to “People’s Artist”), but after several hours spent in line in the cold, he was unable to show the beauty of his voice and was not evaluated by the jury.

The famous "The show must go on" performed by Gregory Lemarchal. Just a stunning performance of Freddie's immortal hit.

The end of 2003 and the beginning of 2004 were difficult for Gregory. He said: “I led a rather miserable lifestyle at that time. I went to bed at three in the morning, got up at noon, and went out to have fun with friends in the evenings. I saw that nothing was working out for me, and I completely fell apart. I didn't recognize myself. And he moved further and further away from his goals.” However, in the summer of 2004, the Star Academy project (analogous to Star Factory) was recruiting for the 4th season of its programs. There was one vacant place left, and the producers were looking for a handsome male voice. This time the jury couldn't resist musical talent Gregory. And although Gregory’s illness implied certain restrictions, the organizers agreed to make an exception and made some concessions in organizing his class schedule. As a result, on December 22, 2004, Gregory won the title of winner, and at the age of 21 he became the first male winner in the history of the project, for whom 86% of television viewers voted.

Gregory's mother said:"Greg had his own, very unusual way get rid of tension, depressive mood and severe anxiety. He was "fooling around." Constantly. He could easily show spiritual maturity unusual for his age and literally the next second begin to behave like a playful child. This happened not only at home, but also at work. He and Olivier competed to see who could make the scariest face somewhere in public place, invented new curse words for each other via SMS, or acted out some scandalous scene, like two market traders, right on film set to see how others react. And when Leticia, his make-up artist, was talking on the phone, Greg loved to suddenly yell something into the phone to scare her interlocutor. And with Philip Warren, a faithful accomplice and photographer, photo sessions very quickly turned into buffoonish gatherings... But he couldn’t fool us with this, and he couldn’t fool himself either. This constant, insatiable need to pretend to be a clown was, of course, characteristic of his character, but it was also a consequence of the evil that accompanied him everywhere.

I was afraid of every new day

Of course, deep down in his heart he dreaded each new day. And all these nonsense, jokes and tomfoolery were his only outlet. His friends were well aware of his uncontrollable thirst for fun, and, of course, they were the first to support him in this. Gregory had a blast with his friends full program. A whole company formed around him and Fabien. Fabien is his childhood friend, the same friend with whom he could play football for hours in the corner of a small cul-de-sac in Barbie; the same one who accompanied us to Star Academy primes every time he could; the same one who surprised Greg and arrived at the Castle on the day when the show's producers allowed students to visit. Fabien was his best friend. Greg often took on the role of chief instigator in this company. He always agreed to everything, always ready to organize everything himself. Even guys older than him still looked for his opinions and suggestions on any matter. And then the “Star Academy” period began, and then Gregory returned from the Castle and suddenly noticed that all the other friends - except Fabien, who knew Greg like the back of his hand - had somehow quietly disappeared! For them, he went over to the side of the “enemy”, became the boy from TV, became the “other” Gregory. And besides, they saw in live, how he developed new friendships with other people on the project, and the power of television only increases this effect. And when Greg realized that now a certain barrier had subconsciously arisen between them, he became terribly angry and decided to organize a “general gathering” to dot the i’s: “What has gotten into you? Have you gone completely crazy? I haven't changed! Yes, it’s me, Gregory, I’m still the same!” It was so funny and childish... but effective!

Jenifer Bartoli et Gregory Lemarchal - Donne-moi le temps (5me prime)

Our big house has again become a permanent haven for this gang! And when they didn’t gather at our place, Greg went to their place to watch movies in the cinema or play poker until he was blue in the face. His greatest fear was that they might think he had contracted star fever. There should be no omissions between them - that was their custom. And Gregory hated lies - even he himself could not lie to me for more than half an hour, then he would still crack and admit that he had done something stupid. And friends were most important to him. When one of them did something bad, it hurt Greg deeply. But he was always able to find extenuating circumstances, to give a second chance. I never heard him speak disparagingly about anyone or gossip. And I admire him for that. Personally, I do not have such greatness of soul. And as a result, Gregory could always - with one or two exceptions, no more - distinguish those who truly love him from those who communicate with him out of selfish interest.

First album

On April 18, 2005, Gregory's first album, “Je deviens moi” (“I am becoming myself”), was released. Posters, programs and interviews fell on Gregory in an instant. The first single, released a little earlier than the album, on March 29 - “Ecris L’Histoire” burst into the charts and held the top position for a long time. The Star Academy tour was sold out in all cities of France, and every time the hall exploded with applause at the sight of Gregory. His album quickly sold out in France and went platinum within a few months. And in January 2006, Gregory Lemarchal received one of the most prestigious awards in France - “Discovery of the Year” at the NRJ Music Awards. And during May 2006, Gregory toured France, Belgium and Switzerland with great success.

One of his concerts took place at the famous Paris Olympia in 2006, a year before his death. 15 minutes before the concert at Olympia, Gregory practically could not sing, and he had to call a doctor, whose help allowed Lemarchal to go on stage. The audience saw nothing but great performance Gregory, and the director of Olympia and the staff of the concert hall, who was behind the scenes, had tears in their eyes at the sight of what a real test this concert was for Lemarchal. This concert in Olympia was published on DVDs.

And all his other concerts were a deafening sell-out, as his performance on stage shocked the audience. He had a keen sense of his partners during performances, and the more talented his performing partner was, the brighter Gregory himself looked. Their duet with Oda during the performance of the song “L`envie” was an amazing sight. Gregory also had duets with Patricia Kaas and Lara Fabian, with whom Gregory was on friendly terms. Lara Fabian immediately recognized Gregory's talent. At the fifth anniversary of Star Academy, Gregory and Lara sang the song “Un Ave Maria” as a duet. The duet was the initiative of Fabian, who always supported Lemarchal and helped him adapt to show business when he took the first steps in his career. Lara Fabian admired Gregory. In an interview, she said: “What absolutely shocked me about Gregory is that what he doesn’t say with words, he says with his voice and eyes. Greg is a being who carries an inner light, and that’s very good, we all needed that.”

Gregory soon planned to release a second album, and in early April he sang the song “Vivo per lei” in a duet with Helen Segara. But in April 2007, Gregory's health condition deteriorated sharply, and he required an urgent lung transplant. Have surgery famous performer the doctors didn't have time. Without waiting for a donor, Gregory died on April 30, 2007. His last words before being put into a coma they said: “I will still overcome you, damned disease.” Unfortunately, he was not destined to cope with her...

A star that went out at age 23

Gregory Lemarchal was buried in the cemetery of the town of Sonnas, where he lived with his family, in Savoie. IN last path Gregory Lemarchal went wearing the scarf of his favorite team - Olympique de Marseille. Thousands of fans came to the farewell ceremony for the “little prince” at the Cathédrale Saint-François-de-Sales de Chambéry, whom Gregory’s parents asked not to bring any souvenirs except the white roses that Gregory loved. Gregory Lemarchal’s second album, entitled “Ls voix d’un Ange,” was presented to the public on June 18, 2007, Karin Ferri, Gregory’s girlfriend, after the artist’s death...

In less than 24 years, Gregory Lemarchal managed to do as much as others do not manage to do in several lifetimes. And even the death of this talented young man helped people. His parents decided to continue the fight. “I won’t let my son leave just like that,” Gregory’s mother said. Lemarchal's parents created the Gregory Lemarchal Association to Combat Cystic Fibrosis. During the three-hour telecast about Gregory, 6 million euros in donations were collected, and the same number of donors signed up as in the entire previous year. Gregory showed everyone what it means to love life, and that in any difficult situation You can't give up. Life is beautiful and deserves to move on, although it is difficult to predict what it has in store for us. As Gregory himself said in one of his interviews: “Never write the end of the story...”.

It seemed that Gregory was not in his life dark spots. And only in the lyrics of the song “De temps en temps” (“From time to time”), which became a posthumous single, Gregory wrote:

From time to time
I'm bending under the weight of fate
And the suffering to which my body is doomed.
From time to time
I take stabs in the back
meanness, evil game words...
From time to time
I regret that innocence
Which can only happen in childhood.
From time to time
I just want peace.
I have no more respect. So it was...

P.S. And fans still write about Gregory’s life, drawing their own from it. Here are some experiences of fans of The Little Prince:
- The dirt and filth of human everyday life touched him too. But, despite this, in his spiritual testament there are ONLY words of love and gratitude. To everyone: family, friends, fans, producers, doctors;
- Presenter Sergei Mayorov said correctly about him: “The present is always too little!” He really was real! The little prince with laughing and at the same time endless with sad eyes! What is it like to realize from childhood that you could die at any moment?!!! What does it feel like to feel such hellish pain!?!!! But there were animals who considered it necessary to insult him! The French “journalist” (there is no other way to say it, I apologize to the honest representatives of this wonderful profession) Frederic Martin publicly insulted Gregory, calling him “Cystic Fibrosis” when listing all the winners of the “Star Academy”: “Jennifer, Nolwenn, Elodie, Cystic Fibrosis and Magali "... I would kill!!! Greg remembered this for the rest of his life! Thank God that people still remember and love Gregory to this day!..

Such talent is rare. I am happy that I was able to get acquainted with the work of this star boy. It’s a shame that so little was allotted to him in this world; he, like a ray of light, delighted with his warmth and sincerity. I really want everyone to know about him as much as possible. more people! He deserves it;

Lara (Fabian - author) very much respected (and still respects) Greg and his talent. It was she who called Gregory “the golden voice of France.” They didn’t have any romance, it was just a stage image. They only met a couple of times. She was just so, you know, imbued with... But was it really possible to calmly stand on stage and sing, looking into those eyes?

The influence of music on a person 15.01.2017

Our most common wish for our loved ones is health and longevity. But there are special destinies when fatally little is measured out. And even these few years a person has to “wade through” trials, through persistent pain and fear. How not to plunge into the darkness of resentment, not to become embittered at the world, at all those who live without knowing even a thousandth of your problems?

There are people who can do this. Manages to rise above vanity, disappointments, doubts, above universal melancholy. And do not extinguish the light within yourself, on the contrary, ignite the Spark of God that has been glowing in each of us since birth.

Today I will tell you dear readers, about a great man. Not only because he is a unique, deeply gifted singer and poet. Gregory Lemarchal's main talent lies elsewhere. During his short, less than 24-year life, he managed to show others an example of fortitude and love of life, which could not be broken by the most difficult circumstances incurable disease. Why do I live, why do I die? Gregory Lemarchal gave the answer to the main questions of existence.

Childhood: the struggle for life from birth

Gregory Lemarchal was born on May 13, 1983 in the small French town of La Tronche. Parents Pierre and Laurens rejoiced at their first child, who grew up to be a lively, active fidget. But when the sweet baby turned 20 months old, the doctors announced this terrible diagnosis - cystic fibrosis (cystic fibrosis).

This insidious genetic disease affects several internal organs at once. Gregory's lungs suffered the most damage. But he did not want to put up with the disease, he tried to be no different from the neighboring boys and even surpass them in sports. And sometimes he succeeded: he enthusiastically played football and basketball, and at the age of 12 won the French championship in acrobatic rock and roll.

Meanwhile, from time to time he had to undergo courses of treatment. Twice, or even three times a day, I had to go under a drip for an hour to get the right dose of antibiotics. The course lasted about two weeks. Gregory was nervous, rebelled, refused treatment, and it was not easy for his parents and doctors to convince him to continue therapy.

Gregory Lemarchal's biography could have turned out differently if not for the persistence of his relatives. He himself strived for sports activities, and his parents saw that their son had good musical abilities. But the young “nihilist” refused to study music or study at a specialized school.

You can’t fool nature: music overtook Gregory

When a progressive illness stood in his way sports career, Gregory Lemarchal decided to make a “workaround” - go into sports journalism. And then an event happened that changed his whole life.

On July 12, 1998, the French national team became the world football champion. And Gregory made a bet with his father on the outcome of the final match. Pierre believed more in national football, and at that moment he was right. Gregory, as the loser of the bet, had to sing karaoke. Which is what he did, performing one of Charles Aznavour’s hits.

The young singer himself was shocked by the reaction of the audience, who were moved to tears by his romantic and soulful manner of performance. In addition, Gregory not only had a very pleasant voice, but also unique “technical” capabilities: a tessitura of 4 octaves.

This was the moment of truth: the young man seemed to have gained wings behind his back, he had a clear purpose of existence - to give people happy moments with his creativity. He began to actively participate in all kinds of local concerts, festivals, music competitions. Including television. At the same time, he studies music and takes lessons from professionals.

The other side of his talent is also revealed: Gregory writes poetry-reflections, poetry-revelation, and this confession also gives vent to carefully hidden emotions, helps to free himself from oppressive anxiety.

Let's listen to this monologue of his, a conversation with himself and with the audience - the song “I Live” (Je Suis En Vie). There is a feeling of the inevitability of Fatum, and timid hope, what doctors would call a borderline state. And he lived in this: on the edge of feelings, on the edge of emotions, on the limit of thought.

You never know for sure, tomorrow -
Is it still far away or is it already close?
They say there's enough time for everything
Tomorrow you can expect everything:
You can become someone, or you can just go crazy
But today I’m just growing.

The Little Prince: stellar ups and thorns

Gregory Lemarchal - people came to listen to him almost as if they were attending psychotherapy sessions. His songs purified, amazed with meditative penetration into inaccessible depths and angelic takeoff to boundless heights. He brought into ecstasy and forced the audience to raise from the depths of the soul the most intimate, secret, but also the most human. They admire him, they deify him, they fall in love with him. He wins hearts with his trusting, intimate, unlike anything else intonation.

It is also recognized by professionals. Gregory gets the role of Adam in the musical “Adam and Eve”, participates in a number of prestigious concerts and popular television projects similar to our programs “ People's Artist", "Star Factory" and similar competitions. The first attempt in 2003 was unsuccessful; he just got to the casting after standing in the cold for several hours. Which was catastrophic given his illness.

The first serious failure greatly crippled him: Lemarchal himself later recalled this period: “I led a rather pitiful lifestyle during that period. I went to bed at three in the morning, got up at noon, and went out to have fun with friends in the evenings. I saw that nothing was working out for me, and I completely fell apart. I didn't recognize myself. And he moved further and further away from his goals.”

Everything changed in the summer of 2004, when he miraculously ended up on the Star Academy project. Here, perhaps, Gregory Lemarchal revealed himself more than ever. Although the illness had its effect here, fortunately, the organizers met him halfway, simplifying some aspects of the “behind-the-scenes” activities.

One of the most memorable performances of the competition was his performance of “SOS d’un terrien en detresse” - a fragment from the rock opera “Starmania”. Translated into Russian, the title of the song sounds like “A cry for help from an earthling who has known despair.”

Why do I live, why do I die?
Why do I laugh, why do I cry?
Here it is, a cry for help
An inhabitant of the Earth who is in despair.
Nothing was a support for me on this Earth.
I'd rather be a bird
I feel bad in human form.

They called him the Little Prince. And like this one literary hero, Gregory Lemarchal was forced early to ask questions about the meaning of life, the inevitability of death, and the possibility of immortality of the soul. They stood before him with merciless clarity, because every day he felt the cold touch of the unknown, the beyond.

But he managed not to fall into world sorrow, do not turn into the eternally suffering “sad Pierrot”. No, it was a different image, a mixture of sophistication, sensuality, intriguing mystery, impeccable taste and filigree craftsmanship. And all this was illuminated by a unique inner light.

At the end of 2004, he was announced as the winner of the 4th season of Star Academy. The victory was stunning, unconditional. In addition, Gregory became the first male winner in the history of the project.

He became himself and left this world

Gregory Lemarchal's songs sounded everywhere. His first album, Je deviens moi (“I am becoming myself”), released in 2005, immediately soared to the top of the charts, breaking sales records, becoming the shortest possible time platinum. Listen to the nickname song from this album: Je deviens moi.

Then there was the prestigious “Discovery of the Year” award, a tour of European countries. May 29, 30 and 31 took place grandiose concerts at Olympia. Many star performers consider it an honor to sing in a duet with a young phenomenon. So the songs What you are made of in tandem with Lucy Silvas and Vivo per lei with Helen Segara instantly became top, like everything he touched.

Gregory Lemarchal became a kind of talisman, giving cosmic energy to everyone around him. However, his own health is rapidly deteriorating. It’s as if he’s burning himself from the inside, giving off warmth and light to those around him.

In February 2007, it became clear that he needed a lung transplant. The young man's condition became critical, causing him incredible suffering. On April 2, he was hospitalized and began to prepare for surgery. But the donor organ could not be found in time, and the doctors decided to put the patient into an artificial coma. On April 29, this was done with the consent of the family and Gregory himself. But on the afternoon of the 30th, the irreparable happened: the heart of the “Little Prince” stopped beating.

The cause of death of Gregory Lemarchal was complications from cystic fibrosis.

Gregory Lemarchal's last words

Fans around the world continued to listen to Gregory Lemarchal's songs. He fought to the end, and his last words were filled with universal love. On April 28, 2007, he addressed friends and fans:

“Dear Gregorians, never in my life have I sent you a message with such pain as I do now. Indeed, the greatest joy of 2007 for me would be this concert on June 16, this “evening of friends” that I wanted to hold for you, which I dreamed up with such inspiration and created for you, to thank you for your constant support and to give you a little happiness - the happiness that you give me every day for the past three years.

But, unfortunately, at the moment my health does not allow me to implement this project, which was so dear to me.

I love you.
Gregory"

If you look at the late photos of Gregory Lemarchal, it’s hard not to notice that the young man managed to experience a real, enchanting feeling of love not only for the song, for the public, but also for his only chosen one.

His muse was Karin Ferri, model and TV presenter. Gregory's very last words before going into an induced coma were his declaration of love for Karin.

After the departure of her beloved, the girl did a lot to preserve his memory. She communicated with the singer’s fans and participated in the popularization of his albums. She won 24 thousand euros in a program like our “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” and donated these funds to the “Association Gregory Lemarchal” to fight cystic fibrosis.

Let's watch the video for Gregory Lemarchal's song “Just Happiness” (Le bonheur tout simplement) and make sure: there is nothing stronger in this world true love. Death may win the battle with the life of the body, but it cannot defeat the fearless spirit and boundless love.

Listen to the song of your heart
Your life will open like a flower,
And you will understand that singing is your life.
And one day love
Will take you into his arms,
Then you will understand what your life is worth.

Gregory Lemarchal and Lara Fabian - a space of feelings

Gregory Lemarchal and Lara Fabian is another topic that worries admirers of the talent of both of these brilliant performers. This happens infrequently: the duo became not just the sum and not even the doubled power of their individualities, a unique “ chemical reaction”, which greatly increased the impact.

And the source material itself was more than worthy: they sang “Ave Maria.” And even earlier, when he was a member of Star Academy, he performed “Je t”aime” from Lara’s repertoire.

They only had a few rehearsals and one joint performance at the concert. But this performance of Ave Maria by Lara Fabian and Gregory Lemarchal became a world-class event.

Then the singer spoke about her partner: “I am delighted with Gregory. There is a certain light in this person, an inner light emanates from him, it’s nice to even just look at him. He a real artist in the truest, purest sense of the word. It radiates warmth."

It is not surprising that the departure of someone spiritually close to her was a shock for Fabian. Much was said about their romance, but at the time of their short personal communication, Lara had just become a happy mother and remained her husband’s beloved wife. She felt rather maternal feelings towards Gregory and, of course, sincere admiration for his cosmic talent.

Here it is, that same “Ave Maria” in the unsurpassed performance of Gregory Lemarchal and Lara Fabian:

For you, for us, for everyone,
Who will find peace
Earth, harmony,
Endless reason
Without a meaning to existence,
No hate.
And those who hardly think about it,
Let them think
What is soon, but in another life
An opportunity is given
Start all over again.

About the reality of immortality: we are alive as long as we are remembered and loved

Gregory was the author of more than 30 song lyrics, although not all of them were translated on stage during his lifetime. In 2007, 4 albums by Gregory Lemarchal sold a total of 1,040,000 copies, he became best singer countries at that time.

He posthumously received several prestigious music awards, and his colleagues staged several memorable concerts in his honor. All over the world there are societies of “Gregorians” that not only honor the memory of an extraordinary personality and colorful singer, but also help other people cope with serious illness.

The Association Gregory Lemarchal continued the fight against cystic fibrosis, using Gregory's authority. Both parents and younger sister singer In France, in May 2007, a telethon dedicated to organ transplantation was also held. The result was an increase in requests for a donor card: in that memorable May there were as many of them as in the entire previous year.

In memory of her older brother, Leslie published the book “My Brother is an Artist,” and his mother Laurence Lemarchal published her memoirs “Under Your Glance.”

You can cite many other facts that confirm the well-known postulate: a person is alive as long as he is remembered, as long as other people need him. But I want to complete my story about Gregory Lemarchal with a quote from the book of his sister Leslie:

“You knew that the disease limited your destiny, but this awareness of fatality never stopped you from dreaming and, on the contrary, immediately gave rise to this crazy desire in you to live life to the fullest and take advantage of every moment of happiness... Always believe and always fight - that’s what you did throughout your entire life and you never gave up.”

That's the end of our conversation about this today. amazing person. When you feel a little sad, when grievances and disappointments come, you feel as if life’s difficulties are overpowering you - listen to the songs of Gregory Lemarchal, remember what he and those who, like Gregory, at this moment are desperately fighting a serious illness, had to go through .

Biography of Gregory Lemarchal

Biography of Gregory Lemarchal - the story of the courageous “French angel”, who lost his last fight on April 30, 2007. But even after Lemarchal’s death, the memory of him and his talent continues to live, including in the name of the fight against cystic fibrosis, a disease with which Gregory lost the battle.

Gregory was born in the town of La Tronche. He was just a baby when doctors diagnosed him with cystic fibrosis., a genetic disease that destroys the lungs, liver, intestines and pancreas. Nevertheless, as a child, Gregory was the same as other children - went in for sports and even became the French champion in acrobatic rock and roll! But with age, the disease made itself felt more and more - sometimes the boy had to sit at home all day on IVs. One day he lost a bet to his father and he had to sing karaoke - seeing how others reacted to his voice, for the first time in his life Lemarchal realized that the stories from his parents that he is talented are true.

For all of France, the singer Lemarchal was born on September 3, 2004, when he appeared on stage in the fourth season of the major music reality show Star Academy. For four months the country watched with bated breath the fate of this talented boy, and finally, on December 22, 2004, the winner of the project became known. He became Lemarchal - "The Little Prince" of French music, as he was later dubbed. After the project ended, Gregory simply could not go into oblivion - his first single received the honorary title of platinum disc, and already in April 2005, Lemarchal’s first album “Je deviens moi” (“I am becoming myself”) was released, which immediately took the first place in the charts. Gregory went on a solo tour - performing in all cities of France, as well as in Belgium and Switzerland, during which a live album by Gregory Lemarchal was recorded. Everywhere he was met by crowds of fans, to whom the singer Lemarchal responded with no less love than they gave him.

Cause of death

Stardom not only did not go to Gregory’s head, but gave him strength to live and work further. But at the end of 2006, the disease made itself felt again, and Gregory soon needed lung transplant, required hospitalization. On the evening of April 29, Gregory was placed in an induced coma while awaiting a transplant, and Gregory Lemarchal died on April 30, 2007., which became a tragic loss for the Gregory family, for France and for the Gregorians (as Gregory's fans call themselves) around the world. Gregory's cause of death was complications from cystic fibrosis. After the “French angel” passed away, two more posthumous albums by Gregory Lemarchal and several singles were released.

Lemarchal's funeral took place on May 3, 2007. Lemarchal's grave little prince France, is located in the cemetery of his hometown of Sonnaz. On the day of the funeral, more than five thousand Gregory fans arrived in Chambery to honor the memory of Lemarchal.
Lemarchal's creative biography was very short - but in those three years that he performed, he managed to win the hearts of a huge number of people: with his amazing voice, sincerity, greatness of soul and, of course, the courage with which he fought the disease.

Episodes of life

Gregory Lemarchal was very friendly with singer Lara Fabian. She admitted that it seemed to her that she and Gregory were spiritually very close. Because of their friendship arose rumors that Lemarchal and Fabian were having a love affair, which was not true. After Lemarchal’s death, a video of the singer’s alleged performance began to spread on the Internet after the death of Lara Fabian’s husband, Gregory Lemarchal, when fans began singing to her from the audience On t’aime and Fabian burst into tears of happiness. The signature was erroneous, and besides, this video is from 2002, recorded five years before Gregory's death.

Testaments

“To firmly promise something to yourself is the most difficult challenge. But the most beautiful thing is to accept this challenge.”

“No matter what wounds and endless pain life causes us, the main thing is to keep moving forward and fight.”

Condolences

“Gregory touched me and it had nothing to do with his illness. It was simple, clean and especially bright. I'm not surprised by people's reaction to his departure. This proves that there are still people in this world who hide behind the mask of gloom and insensitivity, but who can be touched by what Gregory carried within himself - something incredibly powerful.”
Lara Fabian, singer

“Gregory’s dedication for the other person he was performing with and for the art was one hundred percent, I have never seen that in any other artist. He was just...an impressive person."
Patrick Bruel, singer

“He had incredible dedication and great spiritual maturity for his age. I was madly attached to him. He was so easy to live and work with! Greg never pretended to be a star when he stopped being a singer."
Ivan Kassar, arranger, musical director

“Sometimes after concerts he left the stage completely exhausted, having given his all without reserve, but he still kept a smile on his face and was happy that he could do it. He was an incredibly beautiful person... It’s all so unfair.”
Thierry Suq, concert producer

“He gave a lot of love to his fans and received just as much from them. And he would like to give them much, much more, but this disease even then imposed certain restrictions on him.”
Karin Ferri, presenter, Lemarchal's lover

But people liked that “story” so much that wherever this song appears, everyone oohs and aahs in the comments because they “know” why Lara couldn’t sing. Not a single one of Lara’s loved ones, former or current, has died. If not Lara Fabian, then who touched his heart? While participating in the Star Academy (French “star factory”), Gregory performed “Je T”aime” from the repertoire of Lara Fabian. Is it okay that this Lara Fabian concert with a “nervous breakdown” happened long before they met?

I love! I love! Going crazy from wars, I love you like a star! I love! I love! With your greatness, And with your wild beast, You understand - I love you so much From the very first day, Lara Fabian believed in Gregory and his talent. Lara Fabian was with Greg until the very end, and after his death she continues to talk about him and dedicate songs and concerts to him, including even a concert in Moscow. So what would you think? I once sent a video to a friend. but it turned out: “I didn’t say that I was passionate about Lara Fabian’s work, didn’t I?

This is very talented singer, he was a member of the French Star Factory. Sang a duet “Un Ave Maria” with Lara. And Lara really liked the way he sang. That's all! Gregory Lemarchal died when he was only 23 years old. Lara dedicated her performance of the song “Angel” to him. About the video in which Lara cries. She cried for the same reason as in Nimes in 2000 - public recognition in such an amazing form cannot but cause a storm of emotions.

In addition, later in an interview Lara said that on the day when this concert was filmed, she had a temperature of over 40. Naturally, in this state everything is perceived a thousand times more acutely. More than one generation has grown up with Lara’s music, her songs make you feel, and after listening to them it is impossible to hide your emotions.

But, unfortunately, this beautiful performer had a problem greatest tragedy in life - in 2007 she lost her beloved husband, Gregory Lemarchal. It was a difficult time for Lara and for all her fans. After this, Lara could not help but get out of depression; she realized that people for whom you want to live, you want to sing and for whom you want to create. Almost immediately, Lara and Gabriel's love was tested: the girl learned that she was losing her hearing. This happened at the next concert, when the girl realized that she could barely hear the music.

what did Lara Fabian's husband die from?

Lara is a very freedom-loving girl and practically doesn’t listen to anyone. But seeing sincere concern in her husband’s eyes, she obeyed and did not go on stage for two whole months, giving her hearing a rest.

Lara Fabian - concert of Lara Fabian

And Gregory Lemarchal had nothing to do with her family happiness. But when Gregory died, Lara, like any other normal person, adequate person, was acutely worried about his death. She, like thousands and thousands of Gregory’s fans, could not come to terms with the terrible injustice, with the irreparable loss... Lara canceled her concerts during the days of mourning.

They simply sang Lara’s song “Ave Maria” at the Star Factory, which was also written before Lara met Gregory. According to the newspaper Le Figaro, Lara Fabian, while in Russia, became close friends with a representative of the PR service, Magomed Surkhaykhanov.

This fall Fabian will come to Moscow again with concerts. As a child, Gregory Lemarchal was a very active child. In 2003, Gregory Lemarchal became the winner of the 4th season of the French Academy of Stars. Lara saw Gregory's talent, which is why this duet was her initiative. At the end of March he was hospitalized, but the doctors did not have time to find a donor and on April 30, 2007 Gregory Lemarchal died.

This is a universal detergent, suitable for washing dishes and washing plumbing fixtures. You will see the first result in just 3 days! The recipe is simple and truly magical... Perhaps we could help ourselves in that strange hour. And I know that I can’t return anything, But I want to love and only fall asleep with you alone! I know that I was always completely different with you! You dedicated your life to me, I hurt you! I want to bring you back so bad, but it’s not easy! And the world would break like fragile glass without you!

Greg is a being who carries an inner light, and that’s very good, we all needed that.” And you don’t know why? Very interesting! So this is not all true Gregory Lemarchal NEVER WAS her boyfriend.

And subsequently the duet and song “Ave Maria” was born. Lara Fabian superbly played the stage character - a beauty in love. Of course, the secret marriage shocked the public, because no one even knew that Lara Fabian and Gabriel di Giorgio were engaged.
