The most difficult questions of ethnographic dictation. Federal Agency for National Affairs

On November 4, Russia celebrates National Unity Day. However, for many people the essence of this public holiday remains rather vague, and the words about unity sound formal. How exactly to unite and with whom?

The answer to this question is provided by the “Great Ethnographic Dictation” event. It invites everyone to test their knowledge about the culture of numerous peoples of Russia and abroad, as well as learn something new about the country and its closest neighbors.

For the first time, the “Ethnographic Dictation” was held in Udmurtia. In 2017, the promotion expanded its geography. The Federal Agency for Nationalities Affairs, which is one of the organizers, notes that this year, in addition to Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia and South Ossetia will join the project.

What will be in the tasks?

Participants will have to answer 30 test questions, 20 of which are devoted to federal issues, and the remaining 10 to regional issues.

In order to successfully pass the test, you will need knowledge about the peoples of Russia and the CIS countries - their languages, religion, cuisine and traditional crafts. Information about the federal structure of the Russian Federation will also be useful.

The total score for the dictation is 100, and 45 minutes are given to complete.

The head of the FADN of Russia, Igor Barinov, summed up the results of the Great Ethnographic Dictation. This year it was written by 367 thousand residents of Russia and 14 other countries. This is 4 times more than in 2016.

For writing dictations, 2,600 sites were opened throughout the country and abroad, and last year there were only about 800. At these sites, 167 thousand people tested their knowledge about the traditions, culture, and history of the peoples of Russia - 5 times more compared to last year. Thanks to the support of TASS news agency, the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper and the government of Udmurtia, more than 200 thousand participants wrote online dictations in organizing electronic platforms.

As Igor Barinov said, the most sites and dictation participants were in Moscow (18 thousand people) and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) (10 thousand people). For example, in Yakutia, at the cold pole in the Oymyakonsky ulus, 3 sites were organized. The dictation took place at almost -45 degrees.

This year, the regions not only increased the number of venues and the number of participants, but also took an original approach to choosing the location for the dictation. It was written on the icebreaker "Vladivostok" in Murmansk, in the ancient Naryn-Kala fortress in Derbent, on the hundred-meter Tower of Concord in Magas, in the Kuban Cossack Corps in Krasnodar.

In addition, this year, for the first time, our compatriots in the CIS countries wrote a dictation, and Rossotrudnichestvo provided support in this. Kyrgyzstan showed the greatest interest in the event, where 23% of the total number of participants in the CIS countries wrote the dictation. The second largest number of participants was Tajikistan, the third was Moldova.

“For our compatriots, strengthening ties with Russia and spiritual and cultural support from us are of particular importance now. History and traditions should not be forgotten,” noted Igor Barinov.

The average score in Russia for dictation was 17.4 (out of 30 possible) and this is 4% better than last year. In the CIS countries the average score is slightly lower - 16.5. “This is due to the fact that at the sites of the near abroad there was a larger proportion of young people among the participants, and their knowledge, unfortunately, is worse than the knowledge of the older generation. But this is why we are holding an action to fill these gaps, and I am sure that we will definitely succeed,” added Igor Barinov.

As last year, representatives of the fair half of humanity turned out to be more active - about 70% of the participants were women.

When writing the dictation, each participant indicated his age. As a result, the share of young people (under 25 years old) was 60% in Russia and 80% in the CIS countries.

“The great ethnographic dictation allows people to feel attention and respect for themselves, the care of society and the state for preserving the diversity of national cultures and traditions, and emphasizes the spiritual wealth of Russia, which every citizen can rightfully be proud of. But the most important task is, of course, to educate our citizens, inform them about the colossal ethnocultural diversity that our country has,” the head of the FADN of Russia explained the growing popularity of the action.

Minister for the Development of Civil Society Institutions of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Anatoly Bravin drew attention to the surge of interest in the history and culture of the peoples of Russia after the completion of the dictation: “Providers reported that after the completion of the dictation the number of search queries on the Internet related to the peoples increased sharply Russia. The number of visitors to libraries has also increased. This indicates that after the dictation people had a desire to learn more about those who live nearby.”

At a press conference at TASS, he presented diplomas to the distinguished sites. The most valiant platform was the icebreaker "Vladivostok" (by the way, the crew scored an average of 23.4 points on the dictation), the most daring was the Kuban Cossack Corps named after Babych in Krasnodar, the most ancient was the Naryn-Kala fortress in Derbent (Republic of Dagestan), the most massive The platform was the Sima-land company from Yekaterinburg, where dictation was simultaneously written by 3 thousand employees, and the most “star” in terms of the number of famous people was the Pashkov House.

The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) was awarded as the most responsive and selfless region, Moscow as the most active region, the Udmurt Republic received the award as the most reliable partner, and the Republic of Ingushetia became the most enlightened region. In addition, a unique platform for the visually impaired was organized in Ingushetia: dictation questions were written in Braille.

The capital was also especially noted for the fact that the dictation was written here by the youngest participant - a 7-year-old first-grader from one of the Moscow schools (last year the youngest was a 12-year-old resident of the Ulyanovsk region).

The award was received by the singer, winner of the show “Winner” Ragda Khanieva. Her photo from the Great Ethnographic Dictation received the most likes and won the competition that took place on Instagram.
