The international festival "Circle of Light" 2018 will be held in Moscow from 21 to 25 September. Everyone can watch the spectacular light show for free - the events will take place right on the streets of the capital. The facades of famous Moscow buildings will be decorated with spectacular video projections and colorful multimedia installations.
In 2017, Circle of Light was named the main festival at the National Event of the Year Award. During the five days of the festival in 2017, almost three and a half million people visited its venues, and over six hundred citizens watched the closing pyrotechnic show.

Rowing canal (opening)

On September 24, a concert by People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Malikov will take place on the stage in front of the Grand Tsaritsyno Palace. The maestro's performance will be accompanied by video projections on the facade of the palace.

Victory Museum
For the first time in the history of the Circle of Light, the festival venue will be Museum of Victory on Poklonnaya Hill. The facade of the building will show light novels dedicated to the military past of Russia, the city of Moscow, as well as fifteen-minute VJing to the music and songs of the war years.
One of the video mapping works, Constructors of Victory, is dedicated to the designers who glorified Russia. Their inventions became the achievement of world technical thought, and participation in solving the problems of creating defense equipment brought the victory of the Russian people in the Great Patriotic War closer. The light show consists of three parts dedicated to the navy, air force, armored vehicles and automotive technology.
The second light show about Moscow is the heart of Russia. It will tell about how the lands and territories around the capital grew and united over the centuries. Spectators will make a journey over our vast homeland, see the nature of the Urals, Siberia and the Far East, admire the breadth of our rivers and the landscapes of Crimea.

About the Festival

The solemn part of the opening of the festival will begin on the evening of September 21 at 20:30 with the multi-media show "Carnival of Light", which will be held on the Rowing Canal. Laser and light beams will be complemented by "dances" of 285 fountains and 170 pillars of fire.
An exciting film about the world of the distant future can be watched at the Tsaritsyno venue. The story of the legendary character, the Phoenix bird, will also be shown there. Thanks to the colorful interweaving of light streams, viewers will be able to see such famous historical monuments as the Taj Mahal and Big Ben. On September 24, against the backdrop of beautiful video projections, Dmitry Malikov will perform. The concert will take place on the stage near the palace.
Theater Square at the Circle of Light festival will be decorated with a panoramic three-dimensional composition, where the guests of the festival will see an exciting novel about the heroism and love of Spartacus.
For the first time in the history of the event, the site will also be organized on Poklonnaya Hill. On September 27, in the waters of the Strogino backwater, at the end of the Moscow International Festival "Circle of Light", for the first time in Russia, viewers will be treated to a large-scale 30-minute pyrotechnic show from Japanese manufacturers.
Spectators will enjoy a bright and unforgettable 30-minute Japanese pyrotechnic show, which has no analogues in Russia. Hundreds of pyrotechnic charges will be launched from four barges installed in the waters of the Stroginsky backwater, the largest of which, 600 mm caliber, has never been presented in Russia before.
Japanese fireworks are unique in their properties and have no analogues in the world. They surpass other fireworks in their color and brightness, and the hand-made process, passed down from time immemorial, makes each projectile a true work of art.

From year to year, the Digital October venue remains the same meeting place for well-known professionals in the field of visual art and emerging lighting artists.
An educational program consisting of lectures, seminars and practical classes helps beginners learn the basics and reveals many secrets and subtleties in working with light.
On September 23 and 24, the center will host educational lectures by light designers and creators of laser installations. Admission is free, subject to prior registration on the festival website.
Concert Hall "MIR"
On September 24, the Art Vision VJing competition will take place at the Mir Theater and Concert Hall on Tsvetnoy Boulevard. Teams from different countries will compete in the skill of creating light images to the music.
The audience will witness the competition of the best light and music artists in the direction of VJing. Participants will demonstrate 10-minute VJ sets, where they will create completely new works to the music they perform in real time using unexpected visual images and video clips.
