The beginning of a musical career

The group began its active work on February 14, 2016, when they released the track "Your sister's favorite song", which is a symbiosis of rock and electronic music. They have been waiting for new material from the group for a long time: “Vulgar Molly” began to play new songs at summer concerts, demos began to appear on the Web, and when the big solo concert in Moscow was postponed from November to February, citing the unavailability of the new concert program everything finally fell into place. The release came from strange circumstances: "A sad girl with eyes like a dog" appeared on Apple Music late on Monday, January 29, and only a couple of hours later, in the 250,000th public, the group published a concise entry: "The new landmark ep is already in Apple Music." In iTunes, the new release is dated January 12 and is signed to the major label Warner Music Russia. Perhaps this explains why the group, whose collective image of the listener is a schoolgirl, releases a release exclusively on the Apple Music subscription platform, without even trying to participate in the VK repost race (the senselessness of which, however, was proved by the current champion - rapper Lizer, who ended up in first place, mobilizing all possible means, including dozens of pages with suspicious names lizer1, lizer2 and so on).
Sound
"Vulgar Molly" plays the same cheerful pop-punk, seasoned with epileptic drum machine rhythms and disturbing synths. The latter are twisted so much here that they almost drown out the vocals - not the most obvious approach to mixing. Given that the releases of famous punks are now handled by a major label, the roughness of the sound and obvious mistakes in mixing becomes much more difficult to forgive. There is also a production decision dictated by fashion: Kirill Bledny's voice on several tracks was processed with auto-tuning. Even if this is an extremely ironic move, it turned out to be interesting: high voice the thin 20-year-old lead singer, on whom a sweatshirt hangs like a bag, now remotely resembles a polished R&B hedonist, pouring a bottle of cognac on his emotional trauma.
Popularity and self-irony
"Naughty Molly" does not give interviews - anyway, this is how the group's manager responded to several requests made in different time. The outcome is predictable: in the comments, even the fans of the group, who, it would seem, should not be so conservative, are outraged: “They ruined such a song!”
A more experimental approach to understanding the status of a rock star is the song "Glass", in which Pale, with a bipolar characteristic of a teenager, talks about his life "behind the glass", that is, in the media space. The glass here turns out to be the walls of the metaphorical bong of his fan - perhaps that same Vulgar Molly, that is, her collective image. Having achieved popularity, the 20-year-old artist regrets his childhood dream, struggling to cope with side effects glory. But he does not lose heart, the escape plan “to the other side of the glass” has already been thought up: to get into the brain of a fan, and then escape “through a tampon”.
