  • Wax in classic version beige or light yellow. Modern candles can be of any color: red, green, purple.
  • The wick is drawn with a black pencil.
  • The fire itself is more difficult to paint. Pay attention to the candle burning in front of you: in the middle the light is bright, and at the edges the light dissipates. Gradations are easily achieved by combining blue, orange and yellow flowers. Closer to the wick, the flame is bluish, in the middle it is red-orange, and in the upper part it is pale yellow.

Romantic dinner by candlelight - after reading these words, the image of a couple in love immediately appears, sitting in the mysterious twilight, at a beautifully set table, on which there are lit candles, illuminating their sparkling eyes with their fluttering light. Particularly romantic is the combination of candles with the magical atmosphere of anticipation for the arrival of the New Year, when only the light of candles and Christmas tree garlands illuminates the faces of those sitting behind them with a mysterious light. festive table. A burning candle is important and indispensable attribute New Year, symbolizing transience human life. Burning candle in New Year's Eve on a mental level, it reminds us of the importance of every second lived on earth. A wonderful symbol can be depicted on new year poster, or on a homemade greeting card. It's quite simple; So - let's learn how to draw a candle correctly for the New Year 2019.

Example #1

It is necessary to draw lines that will help us in the future. Draw 2 straight lines down, the gap between them should be about 6 centimeters. This is the width of the candle. After this, you need to draw the bottom of the candle, and the melted top at the top. It should be in the shape of an oval and slightly moved to the side.

Example No. 2

Now let's draw the melted wax that flows down. We draw swells similar to waves with soft contours.

Example No. 3

Our candle is in a candlestick, so in this stage we will draw it. Draw an oval at the bottom and a leg for it. It is necessary to prevent melted wax (paraffin) from dripping onto the table. Everything flows down to him. Next, we will add volume with additional uneven contours.

Example No. 4

At the top of the melted top you need to draw a thread - this is our wick. It protrudes from the spark plug in the middle of the cylinder. There is a fire burning on it. The fire should be drawn to look like a drop of water. Then on it, the candlestick and the melted wax we will draw reflections of the incident light. Let's assume that it reflects light from another illuminated room onto itself.

So we got a holiday candle. To completely complete the drawing, it can be painted with paints. At the beginning, we mentioned that it can be multi-colored. Blue, yellow, green, red. Basically, any color you want. The wick can be painted dark brown or black. Yellow, gold or silver paint is suitable for the candlestick. Make the flame orange or red-orange.

Drawing with pastel colors

The drawing will be on the topic of fortune telling - fortune telling. Here is a sketch of the picture that will be painted. We will use soft watercolor pencils for drawing.

So let's begin. The edge of the candle becomes white and uneven when burned, so take white pencil and start coloring starting with the flame. Paint the tip white, add colors closer to the wick a tone darker - beige, yellow, pink. You can see the color of the flame in other tones, so choose the colors according to your own opinion. At first you will have a slight pressure on the pencil, then when painting a darker color, increase the pressure. To have rich colors.

It is necessary to draw light diverging from the flame in the form of a halo. To do this, draw lines with a white pencil from the fire to the sides, while pressing firmly near the fire and as lightly as possible towards the edge. Imagine that light dissolves in the air, the further it is, the weaker it becomes. The color scheme of the fire should be white, followed by beige and pink.

Let's start coloring the wick in dark color. Also, we paint the candle cylinder itself from dark to light tones. We will apply the lightest tone to the top of our candle, and darker downwards. Here we selected the colors: yellow and brown ocher, orange, white, light sienna.

Color everything in your usual colors

Since the shadow of the candle also falls on the mirror, it needs to be painted in yellow. Apply its mirror with light movements. It is also necessary to show the reflection of the flame in the mirror.

Next, you need to mix several colored pencils with graphite and shade them to show the shadows more accurately. For the rim, use a gray and brown pencil. At the place where our halo from the candle falls, the frame is almost invisible.

Master class “Drawings - scratches with a candle (wax)”

“I’ll tell you about grattage.

It arouses interest.

You're like a magician scratching

You paint a whole world of wonders.”

I'll tell you about interesting technology drawing "graffito" or GRATTAGE! This technique is interesting and accessible to both children and adults of any age.

Scratch - unusual technique drawing, translated from French means to scrape, scratch - this is making a drawing with a sharp instrument, scratching paper or cardboard filled with ink on wax. That’s why grattage is affectionately called “Tsap-scratchy”!

Materials for work: a sheet of paper or cardboard, a brush (sponge, candle, oil pencils, ink (gouache, a jar of water, soap ( soap solution, sharp objects for scratching, napkin, newspaper.

Classic scratch paper (black and white): rub a sheet of paper with wax (candle). Then apply mascara (gouache) to the surface with a brush or sponge.

Mascara (gouache) hardly sticks to a greasy surface. To prevent mascara from collecting in drops on the wax surface, there is one trick - mix it with soap (soap solution).

When the ink dries, use a sharp object - a stick, a toothpick - to scratch the design, forming thin white strokes on a black background. The table must be covered, otherwise everything around will be strewn with black ink-wax crumbs. The work uses sharp tools to remove black paint from the surface of the cardboard, resulting in a white layer. The result is a spectacular black and white image.

You can paint over a landscape sheet not with a candle, but with egg yolk (base). The drawing will turn out very bright.

Colored scratch paper - it can be drawn using wax or oil pencils, and then a candle is not needed.

Stage 1: paint over a sheet of paper (cardboard) oil pencils, wax crayons. (can be used colored paper or cover the sheet with watercolors, but then the drawing must be rubbed on top with a candle).

Stage 2: add liquid soap or shampoo to the black mascara (gouache) and cover the painted sheet with this mixture with a brush, let it dry. It is necessary to paint over it so that the pencil does not show through. You can let the paint dry and paint again.

Stage 3: the most interesting thing - when the black color is dry, you can draw the contours - with a pencil or transfer it using carbon paper. Then we take a toothpick (stick, stack, knitting needle, fork) and scratch the design across the ink. A pattern of thin colored strokes is formed on a black background.

Drawing unusual materials(V in this case candle) brings a lot of joy and develops creativity children.

Children's drawings:

I'm sure you will succeed. If you try, you won't stop at one drawing.

I wish you and your children pleasant moments of creativity!

Did you know that paraffin can be used in fine art? No? So, now we’ll tell you more about this in an unusual way drawing, which is accessible even to small children.

Moreover, regardless of age young artist the picture will turn out very impressive due to the contrast with black.

This method of drawing is called “waxography”, because instead of paraffin, you can use wax, or grattage, which translated from French means “scrape, scratch.” This is the peculiarity of the technique - creating an image by scratching.

Any available tool with a pointed end is suitable as a “scratching” tool: a nail, a toothpick, a compass, a knitting needle. For safety reasons, it is better to offer small children a regular ballpoint pen with a refill that has run out of paste.

So that “scratches” are obtained without special labor, the surface of the cardboard must be thoroughly rubbed with a candle, trying to cover it all with paraffin down to the millimeter. Otherwise, where there is no paraffin layer, the line will be interrupted, and all efforts will end with a hole in the cardboard.

You can rub white cardboard with a candle, or you can paint it in advance watercolor paints depending on the theme of the drawing. Let's say you want to depict a winter landscape with fir trees covered in snow. In this case, there is no need to create a colored background. What if autumn trees against the backdrop of the sunset sky, apply blurry horizontal stripes of all the colors of the rainbow to the cardboard. Be sure to let the paint dry and only then rub the sheet with paraffin. By the way, some people use white clay, soap or egg yolk instead.

The most the hard part work - apply black paint on top: due to the high fat content of paraffin, it does not adhere well and collects in puddles. But if you are patient and apply layer by layer, everything will work out. Usually they use black mascara, which, unlike gouache, does not stain your hands as much and is more durable.

When the preparatory work is completed, the fun begins - scraping black paint, through which palaces and jungles, cosmic distances and the underwater kingdom, butterflies and unprecedented birds appear. It is especially exciting to make a drawing on a colorful background, because you never know exactly what color will appear at the “scratch” site.

This, as you understand, symbol, because in grattage, as in any other form fine arts, there are some techniques performed by “scrapers” different shapes and thickness: straight and wavy lines, dots and feathers, toning and cross-hatching. Merged together they form amazing paintings, looking at which no one will say that a novice amateur artist, and not a professional, worked on them.

In this lesson I will tell you in detail about how to draw a burning candle. Flame, as such, has a very complex nature, so there are many methods for drawing it. I'll show you one of them that I use myself.

Step 1. No effects will brighten up your drawing if it is not constructed correctly. It is better to pay maximum attention to this stage, because subsequently it will be almost impossible to change any errors. But first of all, create a background. I chose dark brown. Then take the Brush Tool and draw lines on a new layer. They will help you build the candle correctly.

Step 2. When the drawing is ready, we begin work on the flame. To do this, we will create a group and call it Fire. It is in this group that we will create a layer with candle fire. Change the Blending Mode (of the entire group, not individual layers) to Color Mode. Then we take white and paint a flame with a brush (Saturation: 10%).

Step 3. Return the Brush Saturation to 100%. Before you start drawing a candle, you need to choose three colors: base - darker and brighter than the main part. The lightest part is the top, then the right part, and the most dark side– left. In the sketch we drew a candle in the shape of a rectangle.

Step 4. Using the Blur Tool we soften the edges. The transition between colors becomes smooth, but the lines should remain clear.

Step 5. We are drawing a candle that was lit just a couple of seconds ago. Therefore, there should be no dimples, cracks or wax icicles here. But because The candle tends to melt quickly, we will draw a drop of wax under fire. To do this we use a brush and the Blur Tool.

Step 6. Even though the candle was lit only a couple of seconds ago, wax is already flowing down the side of the candle. Draw a drop using a brush (take two shades - lighter and darker than the base on which the drop will be) and slightly blur it using the Blur Tool. Don't forget to paint on the shadow (using an even darker tone).

Step 7 Create a reflection of the flame. Copy the layer with the flame, place it in the same group, and flip it vertically. Now we have exact copy under the flame of a candle, and using the Eraser Tool, erase the excess.

Step 8 The candle itself should also be reflected from the surface on which it stands. To do this, we select the bottom part of the candle, copy it and paste it onto a new layer. Fill it to 45%, this will give the effect of a smooth fade out at one end. Then, using the Burn Tool, draw a shadow between the candle and the table surface. Then use a regular brush and black paint to connect them.

Step 9 Draw the reflection (its tip should be orange, because light comes from this area).

Step 10 It's time to add the glow from the flame. Using the Dodge Tool, Highlights mode (, 100%, draw a drop of wax.

Step 11 Then, using the same method, we lighten the surface of the candle - it should be the lightest.

Step 12 To draw the smoke, create a new layer (New Layer) in the group Flame (Fire). Select white color, Saturation 30%, and brush with settings as in the picture. Reducing the size of the brush, draw smoke.

Step 13 Let's start working with light. For the rays we will create new group(New Group), with the same parameters as in the Flame group. Let's move this group to the very end of the list of layers (to the lowest position, before background(background)). Using the same brush, with a saturation of 50%, we draw a circle of thick smoke around the candle (the closer to the center, the brighter).

Step 14 Let's apply the filter Blur – Radial Blur (Blur – Radial Blur) with the parameters shown in the picture. Then press Ctrl+F three times to repeat this effect three times.

Step 15 Let's darken the base of the candle a little. To do this, use the Burn Tool, saturation 50%.

Step 16 With the same tool we darken the edges of our background. This will make the candle light stand out even more.

Step 17 Let's make the color of the candle more saturated. To do this, take an Airbrush Soft Round, saturation 50%, and create ovals, as when drawing smoke. Then change the layer mode to Saturation.

Step 18 Using the Blur Tool, we blur the main part of the flame (including the layers with the wax drop). Now the fire looks more natural.

Step 19 Change the brightness and contrast (Image - Adjustments - Brightness/Contrast) of the layer with the reflection of the candle to achieve a rich purple hue.

Step 20. By pressing Ctrl+U, the Hue/Saturation window appears. We change the parameters to those shown in the picture.

Step 21 The smoke was too bright. We will adjust it using the Eraser Tool, with a saturation of 35%.

Step 22 Using regular brushes, draw a match next to the candles. By adding a little smoke coming from it, we will show that the candle was recently lit. Don't forget to add light and shadow to the match to properly complement its shape.

Step 23 Using the Dodge Tool we will highlight the surface of the painting. I cropped the edges of the picture so that the candle was in the very center of the frame.

Step 24 Using the Dodge Tool, saturation 65%, we will highlight the top of the candle, because... wax reflects light.

Step 25 Using the Smudge Tool we draw out the tip of the flame. And let's raise the smoke a little higher.

Step 26 We are working on a drop of wax. Since it is not exposed to direct light, it cannot be as bright. The drop should be even a little darker than the surface on which it is located. Use the Eraser Tool and the Burn Tool.

Step 27 Finishing touches. Using the Burn Tool, saturation 50%, add a shadow from the candle.

Ready. I really hope that the lesson will be clear to everyone and will help in working with Adobe Photoshop.
