Light sketch of a rose. Learning to Draw a Beautiful Rose: Instructions for Young Artists

A rose is an amazingly beautiful flower with an interesting bud shape, graceful petals, and a rich palette of colors. No wonder the queen of flowers is present on many greeting card, and artists love to portray her very much. Schoolchildren also like to draw roses to please their mother, grandmother, beloved teacher, or just to admire a beautiful composition. Of course, children's masterpieces are simple and spontaneous, but adults can help a child improve his visual skills. So, for example, in various techniques you can successfully use phased drawing.

Necessary tools and materials for drawing

For fruitful creative activity adults, first of all, should equip him workplace- provide a spacious table. Great importance has a comfortable chair: a young artist should not sit bent over.

To work in various techniques, you will need the following tools:

  • sheets of white paper A4;
  • colored loose cardboard (for gouache painting);
  • a simple pencil (soft or hard-soft), always sharpened;
  • eraser;
  • colored pencils (as an option - wax crayons);
  • gouache;
  • watercolor paints;
  • brushes of different thicknesses.

You can draw a rose graphic technique, colored pencils, paints

Another task of an adult is to prepare in advance technological maps with step-by-step drawing schemes so that the child always has them at hand (these may well be photographs from thematic sites).

How to draw a rose step by step with a pencil

Rose - not only very beautiful flower, but also a rather complex object for drawing (a bud consists of many petals nested one inside the other). But if the child draws it with a pencil in stages, then he will succeed.

Do not press too hard on the tool when applying the first strokes. The approximate outlines of the flower should be such that the student can easily erase them in case of a mistake. You can draw brighter lines at the final stage of work (for this purpose, you can use soft pencil).

rose buds

A flower arrangement may consist only of a bud (or several), without a stem, surrounded by petals.

  1. First, you should outline the center of the bud.

The first stage is the designation of the central part of the bud

  2. After that, we line up the petals around the center. various shapes, bottom and top, sides. The degree of fluffiness of the flower depends on how much the artist extends the lines of the bud.

From the center to different sides petals of arbitrary shape should depart

  3. Gradually, the rose becomes more and more magnificent.

The queen of flowers is getting more and more magnificent

  4. And finally, the charming bud is ready.

    Lush bud already drawn

  5. The next stage of drawing is the image of the leaves. They must also be different size and differ from each other in shape: some are fancifully curved, while others are more straight.

Around the bud, leaves of different sizes and shapes are depicted.

  6. And the final touch - you need to designate the veins on the leaves so that they become more realistic.

To make the image more realistic, you need to mark the veins on the leaves

Another way to depict a bud is to start with a spiral, gradually building petals around it.

The center of the rosebud resembles a spiral

Unblown rosebuds also look charming. The base in this case will be a small semicircle - it is from it that the stem stretches, at the bottom the bud is surrounded by small green leaves. In the upper part, you need to add a few petals: the degree of pomp of the flower depends on their number.

Drawing a half-closed bud begins with a semicircle, inside which petals are depicted

rose with stem

The next version of the rose is a flower with a stem and leaves. Let the bud be almost closed again.

Drawing a rose in a vase

Look great on the drawings of roses in vases or pots. Getting Started creative process, the young artist must decide where he will start work: with a flower or a vase.

Coloring the sketch with colored pencils

After the child learns to realistically draw roses with a simple pencil, you can start coloring the silhouette with colored pencils or crayons. The following important points are taken into account.

With regard to the colors, then roses are most often depicted by children as red. But this flower can have many other shades in the composition: pink, yellow, orange, lilac. Roses painted in a very dark shade of red - almost black - look spectacular.

Note that younger students in their drawings often simply fill in the intended contour with the desired color.

In drawings elementary school student usually missing without shadow transitions

A small shadow on the petals looks much more interesting in the figure.

At an older age, children can already designate a shadow

Also spectacular artistic solution- edging petals of a different color (for example, purple or brown, if he himself is pink or red).

The edging of the flower can be made in a different color - it always looks beautiful

The specifics of gouache drawing for beginners

Children love to paint flowers with gouache. After all, the compositions always turn out to be bright and expressive. This technique is ideal for beginner artists: errors and inaccuracies can be masked without damaging the picture.

Since gouache is opaque and contains white, you need to draw from dark to light, but not vice versa. First, the child must decide on the composition and color palette, and then begins to paint the dark areas. Light highlights and color accents are indicated in the final work.

In a gouache drawing, the background is of particular importance. It can be of two types.

  1. Uniform shading outside the pencil sketch: the rose itself and the background are indicated by certain colors.
  2. Fill. First, the background of the picture is drawn up, and when it dries, the flower is drawn directly (as an option, you can initially use not white paper, and colored cardboard).

Consider concrete examples painting roses with gouache.

Bouquet of roses

Rose on a green background

Gouache is good because it allows you to draw on a dark background. So, for a rose, you can choose a dark green base.

  1. Draw a red rosebud with a thin brush.

Draw a red bud on a green background with a brush

  2. The resulting image is blurred with water.

Blurring with water will create overflows of shades.

  3. With the help of light green gouache we depict a thin stem and graceful leaves. Thorns and veins on the leaves are denoted by a darker shade of green.

Draw the stem and leaves in different shades of green

  4. Next, we make the bud more voluminous: we mark the borders of the petals with a light pink color.

We decorate the petals in the bud with a pale pink color

  5. The final stage of the drawing is work on the background. Let's create beautiful overflows with the help of green strokes of a dark and light shade.

Strokes of light and dark green will make the background more expressive

Features of watercolor painting

Painting with watercolors is a more responsible job, since the flaws will already be obvious. But this technique allows you to create delicate and sophisticated flower arrangements. After some practice, the student will be able to draw quite realistic roses, from which it seems to breathe freshness.

First, again, a pencil sketch is made. At the same time, the drawing should be slightly noticeable (no need to put pressure on the tool). Then comes the watercolor. We must wash the paint with water: it should be almost transparent, without a pronounced color. When painting a bud, it is better to use several shades to make the rose look natural.

It is better to fix the paper with tape or buttons: when it gets wet and then dries, ugly waves can form.

Let's consider a specific example.

  1. The first stage is a pencil sketch of a rose.

Pencil sketch lines should be thin and soft.

  2. Raspberry paint is strongly diluted with water and applied with a thick brush to the surface of the bud. We mark the lower part of it with light green watercolor (also very diluted).

The bud is painted with highly diluted raspberry paint

  3. When the initial layer dries, the edges of the petals are shaded with paints of warm tones. The background is indicated by a dark cold tone (for example, purple). This will visually make the rose brighter. In this case, the light parts of the rose are shaded in a dark tone, and the dark parts, respectively, in a light tone. Color heterogeneity is only welcome: the image will be more natural. To indicate the veins on the petals, you need a thin brush. She is working on the base and the middle of the bud. It is important not to overdo it with dark shades, otherwise the pattern may become “cartoonish”.

The image becomes realistic due to color heterogeneity

  4. The final part of the work is the design of the background. Here you can experiment with shades of green, as well as use yellow, purple, pink and blue. An interesting trick- those shades that are present in the palette of the rose itself are added to the corners of the background. This will balance the composition, make it warmer and more harmonious.

Well, if the color palette of the rose and the background will overlap

Drawing on the cells of a notebook

An interesting technique that children usually love is drawing by cells. This method allows you to create whole pictures, because it does not require special visual skills, but only attention, patience and perseverance. Such activity is also great way relaxation. Girls love to decorate their diaries with such flowers.

The child is offered a template, where each cell is painted in a certain color, all together they make up a picture, in this case beautiful rose.

Consider different variants drawing roses by cells.

Most easy way images when the bud and stem with leaves are monochromatic, for example, painted in bright red and green.

The simplest option with a plain bud

Only a bud can be drawn by cells: in this case, the emphasis is on the overflow of shades (burgundy, light and dark lilac).

You can only draw a bud by cells, paying attention to the overflow of shades

When painting a bud, you can play with all the colors of the rainbow - the image will turn out to be very original.

Of course, painted flowers are not as beautiful as real ones, but if they are created by a child's hand, the composition takes on a special value. Such a gift cannot be compared with the most luxurious bouquet. Step by step drawing will help the student to draw a rose with a pencil with its intricate combination of petals in a bud and color it as realistic as possible. You should also encourage the desire of the child to show their own imagination and bring something of their own to the picture. After all, the art of drawing is also a wonderful way to relax, to find peace of mind.

There are things that never lose their relevance, there are flowers that inspire entire generations to creative feats. Today we will draw a rose for the third time.

We have already drawn a rosebud separately, as well as a rosette as a whole. The third version is also dedicated to the flower along with the stem and spines. It will be traditional for the site step by step instructions, following which you can draw a beautiful rose with a pencil. And so that you don’t get bored, and even feel even more motivation to draw this lovely flower, I’ll tell you about one interesting Eastern wisdom associated with roses.

Some mystics and sages compared the rose with the life of a successful and spiritually developed person. Still don't know why? Everything is amazingly simple! Before becoming a delightful rosebud, full of charm and fragrance, everyone has to go from the base to flowering, and there will be many thorns and thorns along the way. If we do not stop, do not be lazy and do not succumb to the temptation to become consumed by fears, then each of us can become beautiful flower life!

How to draw a rose step by step with a pencil beautifully

Here is a difficult task we have today, which we will definitely cope with! Prepare simple pencils - we will need a hard one for the first step, in which we will create a simple sketch. And if you want your beautiful rose to have contours, then in the subsequent stages you will need to draw them with a soft pencil or a black pen - it all depends on your own preferences. Colored pencils are great for coloring. If you want something more, you can try using gouache or watercolor. In general, the lesson is suitable for both beginners and those who have some experience in drawing.

1 - We make a sketch in the form of a "chupachups" with "hands". These lines and the circle at the top will help us keep the proportions we need for our rose. Immediately draw one bottom petal.

2 - Now gradually move towards the central petals of the rose, gradually outlining the bud. Rely on the sketch circle - it will serve as a border for the petals of the bud. At first glance, this may seem difficult. But since we draw each petal in turn, and the sequence is shown in the pictures - everything turns out very simply and easily!

3 - When the rosebud is drawn, add the leaves at its base.

4 - It's time to switch to the stem. At the very beginning of the lesson, we drew a "trunk", and based on this line, draw a rose stem.

5 - Add two small twigs with leaves on either side of the stem. And do not forget about the thorns, because without them a rose is not a rose.

6 - So you got to the final stages of the lesson on drawing a rose with a pencil. I am sure that already now it looks beautiful on a piece of paper in front of you. But there are a few more stages, after which it will literally come to life before your eyes. Now we have to carefully erase the sketch with an eraser so that it does not interrupt the "beautiful rose" effect.

7 - The last one is the most interesting and bright stage. Now you have to give colors and shades to the flower. You can build on the example above and use pencils or any other colored drawing tools to color the rose.

Roses are quite popular among flowers, especially as a symbol of love. draw a rose not easy - they consist of many layers of petals. You need to carefully add them one at a time to the drawing, and only then darken the whole structure. In this tutorial, I will briefly show you how to do this if you wish. draw a rose from a sketch, without relying on photographs of real flowers. If you want to work from photographs, you can find any on the Internet.

You should get this drawing:

How to draw a rose

What you will need:

hard pencil(NV);
- medium soft pencil (2B or slightly less);
- soft pencil (5V or less);
- paper;
- sharpener.

Step 1
Start drawing with a hard pencil an outline in the form of a drop / egg. This will be the inner rosebud. The pencil should barely touch the paper.

Step 2
Draw the "opening" part.

Step 3
Draw the petals inside.

Step 4
Enclose these petals in a heart-shaped outline - this will be the border of the next petals.

Step 5
Connect the "heart" with the rest of the bud - you get the shape of a petal.

Step 6
Another heart...

...connected to the bud.

Step 7
Draw the heart again, but this time make it less even and more open.

The lines connecting it to the bud will create a depth effect if you direct them correctly.

Step 8
At this stage, we need to add more petals. Their placement will be more difficult in the future, so be careful:

Step 9
We need to fit the bud into the "bowl" of petals. First, draw the small petals...

... and then more petals.

Step 10
The rest of the petals should slope down more and more.

Step 11
When you're done, outline the lines you want to emphasize in the final drawing by pressing down on the pencil.

Step 12
Take a softer pencil and darken internal fragments roses. First draw with light strokes ...

…and then press harder to get a richer shadow.

Step 13
With the same pencil, place accents on the tips of the petals. Don't highlight everything!

Step 14
Take a hard pencil again and use it to outline the light texture of the "lit" parts. The more shadow on the fragment, the brighter you need to draw the lines.

Step 15
Take the softest pencil and add finishing touches in darkening - especially in the darkest folds.

Adviсe:

  • Start drawing from the top of the bud. The main thing here is to adhere to the shape of a spiral, which resembles an incompletely opened bud.
  • After that, stepping back a little, begin to draw a petal: the largest and deployed is larger than the others in size, and then the others are smaller.
  • When the rose takes on recognizable contours, start adding volume. Stepping back from the top of the bud, draw its lower part. If you stretch out long lines, then the flower will look unopened.

How to draw a rose in stages with a pencil: diagram

  • Despite the fact that a rose is a difficult flower to draw, artists often depict it on their canvases. If you are just starting to comprehend the basics of drawing, then it is better to opt for simpler colors.

For those who nevertheless decided to depict a rose, without having much experience in drawing, the masters reveal their secrets in master classes. Here are some of them:

  • You can draw a rose without experience in drawing flowers. The main factors of creation beautiful drawing are the presence of desire and the absence of haste.
  • Diligence helps to reveal the artistic talents of even those who can hardly get the simplest drawing.
  • To get started, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with a few basic drawing lessons. Now there are many sites where such information is available and informative.

Roses go well with other flowers.

  • Watch the lessons, which describe in detail the techniques of applying pencil strokes, how to do shading correctly, and which paper is better to take for drawing with a simple pencil, and which one is better for drawing with watercolors.
  • It is also worth picking up pencils of the appropriate degree of hardness. However, do not overload yourself with unnecessary information. One or two lessons will be enough to depict a flower no worse than an experienced artist.
  • Try to draw simple 3D objects. This will help you understand how to arrange objects on paper.

  • Be careful and do not rush, because extra lines will not decorate your drawing, but can only lead to irreparable errors. Yes, if you draw with a simple pencil, then all additional lines can be erased (drawn without strong pressure), but real artists avoid drawing unnecessary contours.
  • Try to study the selected object before starting drawing so that the picture is in the smallest details could be reflected in your imagination.
  • First, draw a flower with an unopened bud. Its contours will be much easier to depict for a novice artist. Then follow the step-by-step explanations, drawing new lines to the original contours.
  • Regular classes will help you transfer even complex shapes and pictures.

Step 1: Outline the Rose Bud and Stem

  • We carry out conditionally horizontal line that divides the sheet into two halves. In the upper half of the sheet, we begin to draw a circle. We do not need a perfect circle, the main thing is to guess with the size of the initial contour.
  • After all, inside the circle we will place a bud. All auxiliary lines carry out without pressing hard on the pencil.
  • When the drawing is ready, we will get rid of them with the help of an eraser. We draw two parallel curved lines under the circle. This will be the stem.

Step 2: Draw the Petals

  • In the center of the circle, draw the unopened part of the bud. After that, we conditionally divide the bud into two halves (in our example, this auxiliary line is blue).
  • Now it will be easier to navigate: we have the right and left parts of the bud, on which we need to draw the petals.

Draw petals

Step 3: Draw the Leaves and Add the Bud Details

  • Let's focus on the petals.
  • No need to copy them exactly: just give them natural curves.

Adding Leaves

Step 4: Draw the Petals

  • At this stage, you need to depict the leaves on the stem. Here you can also turn on your imagination and draw a few branches with leaves so that the picture looks advantageous and the flower does not seem lonely on a piece of paper.
  • When drawing branches with leaves, try to give them more realistic sizes and shapes. Too big leaves will spoil immediately general impression from the picture. Let's draw the veins on the leaves.
  • Let's draw the petals in more detail. Additional lines can be removed now, or you can do it at the final stage. You just need to keep in mind that the beauty of a rose lies in the correct image of the petals.
  • We begin to draw lines under the upper, previously drawn contour of the petal, connecting the edges. Each petal will be depicted with two lines, so we can create the impression of petals slightly bent at the edges. Two lines of petals will also help in the future to properly position the shadows on the bud.

Draw shadows

Step 5: Draw the Shadows

  • The rose is almost ready. We just need to give it volume with the help of shadows. In order to depict a falling shadow, imagine which side of the rose is under the light source.
  • We fill the recesses between the petals with darker shadows, trying to press the pencil a little harder. At the junction of the petals, we also draw dark areas.
  • After all the shadows are applied to the flower, rub the shaded areas a little with a fingertip. Such a simple technique allows you to smooth out sharp lines, which will make the drawing more gentle.

Step 6: Finishing

  • You can make this stage final and remove all auxiliary lines with an eraser. The rose will look more realistic if the tinting with a simple pencil is replaced with colored pencils or paints.
  • You can decorate rose leaves in green, and the bud is a bright red or any other suitable shade. When drawing a rose with paints or colored pencils, do not forget to also draw shadows with deeper shades. Otherwise, the flower will look "flat", two-dimensional.

And, if you look at different photos with this luxurious flowers, it will become noticeable that most of these varieties differ in the shape of the bud: goblet, spherical, cupped, etc. You can draw a rose without knowing all these details, but then the drawing will not be realistic, you will not get an image that looks like a natural plant.

What else do you need to know before moving on to step by step instructions? It turns out that there are varieties that are painted in 2, 3 or more colors.

simple flower image technique

How to draw a rose step by step Let's first try to draw roses with a pencil. At the same time, let's see how this can be done correctly and easily even for beginners, even for kids who are 5 years old. And then we'll try to decorate the pictures.

In order to understand how to draw a rose with a pencil in stages, we will divide the work into small steps. So we will easily and without problems overcome the path of mastering this technique.

Step 1. Preparation

Let's prepare everything that will help us draw and color a rose: paper, pencils, an eraser. What else may be needed to execute the image with a pencil? Photo. It is worth choosing suitable clear photographs, but you can also take painted works on our website (see below).

Step 2. Blooming spherical climbing rose

Learning to draw a rose that is fully opened and has a round, small bud shape. To do this, draw a circle.

In the workpiece, we make a few more circles of a smaller size. We quickly make them, it does not matter if they come out uneven.

The smallest circle is the inner petals of the flower. There are usually no more than 5 of them. They are folded and look like a small glass.

The rose blank, made with a simple pencil, is already beginning to resemble our final goal. Therefore, we continue to do the rest of the circles in the same style. Each petal is beautifully drawn. And we get a blank very similar to our plant.

Step.3. goblet bud

How to draw a rose with a pencil that has a goblet bud? We present the shape of the glass and transfer it to paper.

Inside it we make another "glass". These are the inner petals of the rose that are gathered together. And there are no more than 5 of them.

We make out the extreme petals. How can you draw them? Like those that slightly on the sides hide the glass in their folds, like Cinderella's dress, which she wore to her ball. goblet rose made with a pencil in stages, in just 3 steps, it looks very believable.

Step 4. Cup-shaped large-flowered bud

Learn how to draw a cupped rosebud. To do this, we make an incomplete circle, where one side is a straight line.

How to draw a rose next? It is best to start with the bottom petals. They are located just in a straight line. We can see only 5 of them: three of them are at the very bottom, the rest are on the sides.

We rise above and draw the next "floor".

This flower is a little "tousled", and its inner petals bear little resemblance to those that are arranged in a certain order. And yet, he is. How to learn to draw them? So, as if they wrap the core.

Step. 5. Coloring

First, we erase all auxiliary lines. Let's see what we got:

And this is what the picture looks like without fragments:

We represent the stems and leaves. "Lower" roses in a vase. It turned out to be a nice bouquet.

We start coloring. We direct each detail with our own color.

When we are 5 years old, it is enough just to fill the white space with the intended color.

But this is not enough if we are much older. We are able to make a slight shadow on the petals.

Or, remember that the edging can be a different color.

That's it, the picture is ready. In less than a year of training, we will be able to boast of our skills, which will not be inferior even to Jan Brueghel himself.

And below are a few more options for drawing a rose:
